Luping He — Nurse of the Night

I am nominating Luping because she is an exceptional nurse who ALWAYS goes above and beyond for her patients and her coworkers. Luping works at Nemours Children’s Hospital, first in the Pediatric Intensive Care unit and now as a vascular access nurse. You can always count on Luping to go the extra mile and it is not unusual to see her staying late to ensure a patient is safely cared for or to ensure her team is well supported. Luping will still come check on the PICU staff, covering lunches, helping with patient care, and checking on the nurses when they are having emotionally difficult days- as can often times happen in a pediatric ICU. Luping frequently makes big batches of food and brings it in “just because” or invites the entire unit to her house for a potluck style gathering (except she makes also much food herself that people have stopped bringing extra!!) and tirelessly champions other departments and colleagues to make them feel appreciated. I cannot think of a better person who embodies the persona of an excellent nurse and I am proud to work with such a stellar individual.

This paticular nurse is one of the best in my opinion. I’ve seen her take very bad situations and turn them around. She is a psych nurse, so you know she has to deal with a lot. I’ve never seen her take anything personal, she’s helped me understand we all have bad days and we are human.
