Nurse-Founded Soleya Scrubs Brings Self-Care Back to Healthcare
When nurse, weaver, and mom of four Beth Guynes couldn’t find comfortable, stylish scrubs, she decided to make her own. Now she’s the CEO of a trending luxury scrubs brand that’s so popular she can barely keep up.
Read on to learn more about Beth Guynes’ journey, her brand Soleya Scrubs, and her mission to restore comfort, function, and self-care to healthcare workwear.
Comfort Is Care: A Nurse-Led Revolution
Seattle school nurse Elizabeth “Beth” Guynes, BSN, RN, returned to work after the pandemic, expecting the chaos of long days and short breaks. What she didn’t expect was that scrubs were exactly how she remembered them, ugly and uncomfortable.
“I ordered every brand of scrubs, and every time I tried them on, I was more disappointed. Too constricting, too scratchy, too SCRUB-like. I couldn’t believe that in ten years, no one had figured out how to make scrubs more like the clothes we like to work out in. I remember asking out loud, “Why can’t I just wear yoga clothes to work?"
That’s when Beth and her husband, an ER doctor, decided to start Soleya Scrubs. Locally made premium performance knit scrubs designed to keep healthcare workers as comfortable and fashionable as possible. Where most brands focus on function or cost, Soleya focuses on wellness and self-care.
“I remember thinking, we work too hard to wear bed sheets to work,” Beth says. “If you spend twelve hours taking care of other people, your scrubs should be taking care of you.”
About Soleya Scrubs
Soleya’s line is made entirely in Los Angeles from a buttery soft, high-performance knit, the same fabric used by today's most popular athleisure brands. It's similar to modern activewear, but engineered for the demands of healthcare. Within their first year, they shipped more than 1,000 orders, earning a 40% repeat-purchase rate and national attention after a recent Forbes feature.
For Beth, Soleya is about more than scrubs. “Nurses are tired. We deal with long hours, short staffing, dangerous patient loads, and workplace violence,” she says. “We spend our whole life caring for others, but when it comes to caring for ourselves, we clock out.”
Her philosophy is simple: comfort is not a luxury.
Today, Soleya is expanding its reach through partnerships with hospitals and clinics while staying rooted in its nurse-led mission. “Nursing is hard. Our scrubs don’t have to be,” Beth says.
