Nurse. Rapper. Game-Changer. Meet Travius Keandric, Nurse Content Creator of the Year

"I’ve seen firsthand both the struggles and triumphs in healthcare, reinforcing my belief that nursing is more than a job—it’s a calling that extends beyond the bedside."

Named Nurse.org's 2025 Nurse Content Creator of the Year, Travius Keandric (@traviuskeandric) is a registered nurse, singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur who blends health care, music, and advocacy into a powerful brand. With a foundation rooted in compassion and a vision aimed at transformation, Travius is proof that nursing isn’t confined to doctors’ offices and hospitals, but can also be a platform for education and innovation.

Hailing from one of the U.S.'s most underserved and poverty-stricken cities, Marion, Alabama, Travius experienced firsthand the harsh realities of healthcare disparities. His upbringing, marked by limited access to medical care, sparked his desire to be part of a solution for more accessible healthcare.

"I’ve seen firsthand both the struggles and triumphs in healthcare, reinforcing my belief that nursing is more than a job—it’s a calling that extends beyond the bedside," he describes.

Nurse.org had a chance to learn more about Travius' nursing journey and how he combines his love of health care and music to inspire others.

Two Passions: Nursing and Music

After graduating as the only Black nursing student from the University of Alabama, Travius began his nursing journey in Tuscaloosa VA, working in mental health to support veterans facing challenges after their service. From there, he gained experience in Med-Surgical care before advancing into intensive care in Atlanta.

“I saw firsthand how a lack of resources could affect people’s lives," Travius says. "I wanted to educate, advocate, and provide better healthcare opportunities for communities like mine."

But Travius didn’t stop at clinical care. Alongside his career, he nurtured another passion—music. Long before he identified as a content creator, Travius was promoting his music, sharing his journey, and connecting with audiences online through raw, honest storytelling. Over time, he realized he didn’t have to choose between health care and music; he could combine them. Today, Travius uses his talents to create content that not only entertains but also educates and empowers.

Travius describes his content as “a mix of education, entertainment, and advocacy.” Through skits, storytelling, and music, he brings healthcare topics to life in ways that are engaging and relatable. Whether he’s tackling serious issues like burnout and staffing shortages or sharing lighthearted moments from the frontlines, his work resonates because it’s authentic.

"I rap, and my music has a deeper message—it’s about breaking generational curses and uplifting my community," he says, adding:

“My goal is to make nursing and health knowledge accessible to everyone.”

Life as a Nurse Entrepreneur

Currently, Travius' focus is on content development, entrepreneurship, and nursing advocacy. His typical day includes managing his business, QIPS Scrubs, producing content, and championing initiatives that uplift and unite nurses. One of his most ambitious projects is Nurse Richie Rich, a medically animated, kid-friendly cartoon designed to educate children about health care in a fun, approachable way.

The road hasn’t been easy. As someone who started with limited resources, Travius had to work tirelessly to build something meaningful.

“I had to start from scratch—both in my nursing career and my business,” he explains. But through faith, persistence, and an unwavering belief in his purpose, he turned obstacles into opportunities. “Hard times aren’t meant to humble me—they’re meant to elevate me,” he says.

What fulfills him most is seeing how his work touches lives. Whether it’s a nurse who feels seen, a student inspired to pursue healthcare or a patient who benefits from his advocacy, these moments fuel his mission.

“Knowing I’m making a difference is the best reward,” he says.

As a nurse influencer, Travius aims to redefine what it means to be a healthcare professional. “It’s about using creativity to educate and inspire,” he says. “We are leaders, innovators, and change agents.” His message to aspiring nurse influencers is clear: be authentic, be consistent, and don’t underestimate your voice.

Looking Toward the Future

For Travius, content creation isn’t just about visibility; it’s about amplifying unheard voices, advocating for systemic change, and inspiring the next generation of nurses to think beyond traditional roles. To that end, recognition from the nursing community about his impact means a lot to him.

“It’s an honor to be acknowledged by my peers,” he says. “Nurses are the backbone of health care, and to be recognized means the world.”

Looking ahead, Travius has ambitious plans. He’s preparing to release new music, expand QIPS Scrubs, grow his cartoon series, and even launch a nationwide tour specifically for nurses—a live experience where music and healthcare advocacy collide. He’s also working on a nationwide nurse strike initiative to push for better working conditions and health care policies.

At his core, Travius remains grounded by faith, family, and purpose. His hobbies—music, fitness, creative writing, and business development—fuel his creativity, while his routines and discipline keep him focused. “ Hard times aren’t meant to humble me—they’re meant to elevate me," he says. "Every challenge is just fuel for the next level, and I refuse to let temporary struggles define my destiny."

Above all, Travius is a voice of empowerment in modern nursing. He challenges the status quo, pushes boundaries, and encourages others to do the same.

“I want to inspire nurses to think bigger. We are innovators, leaders, and entrepreneurs," he says. "Let’s change the game together. Let’s quit waiting on strikes to make a change and be proactive instead of reactive. The time is now."
