Few contestants have left a mark on Survivor quite like Cirie Fields, RN. Known to fans as the “Queen” of Survivor, Fields has built a legendary reputation for strategic brilliance, emotional intelligence, and resilience — traits that also make her an exceptional nurse.
Over multiple appearances on the long-running Survivor reality competition, as well as in appearances on other reality shows, Cirie has proven that the same skills nurses rely on every day — empathy, adaptability, critical thinking, and the ability to read people under pressure — can translate far beyond the hospital floor.
As she prepares to compete once again on Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans, nurses everywhere have another reason to celebrate one of their own.
Who Is Cirie Fields?
Cirie Tiffany Fields was born in 1970, in Jersey City, New Jersey. She earned her nursing degree from St. Francis Nursing School in New Castle, Pennsylvania, and has worked as a surgical technician and clinical coordinator at Norwalk Hospital Surgical Center as well as a periop systems director for a three-hospital system in New Jersey. Before reality TV fame, Cirie also worked in home care and other roles, embodying resilience and adaptability.
In her bio for her first appearance on Survivor, Fields called becoming a nurse her “proudest accomplishment.”
Her professional background has clearly influenced how she plays the game. Nursing requires quick decision-making, strong communication, and the ability to remain calm during stressful situations — all qualities that have made Cirie one of the most respected players in Survivor history.
Cirie has many affectionate nicknames among fans and commentators including “The Queen,” “The Social Strategist,” and “The Couch Potato” (a self-description from her early Survivor days when she “got up off the couch to live her adventure").
