Why Was Nurse Sarah Hospitalized?

Nurse Sarah, a widely respected nurse educator and advocate known for her engaging online nursing content, was hospitalized on July 29th after being diagnosed with meningitis. According to her official TikTok, Nurse Sarah began experiencing serious symptoms as early as July 18th and was admitted to the emergency department following a significant decline in her health.

Her initial symptoms included a stiff neck, severe headache, intense head pressure, nerve pain in her limbs, nausea, night sweats, and persistent fevers—all resistant to typical pain management. After a thorough workup involving CT scans, MRI, a lumbar puncture, and extensive blood testing, her care team diagnosed her with meningitis. Elevated liver enzymes and high cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure with abnormalities were noted.

Fortunately, her condition has improved in recent days. With continued IV antibiotics, fluids, and supportive care, her fever is trending down, and her headaches and neck pain have lessened. Nurse Sarah’s loved ones report that she is now feeling better and may soon be released from the hospital.
