@NurseDaddies Talk Gay Nurse Life Across Generations—From the U.S. to the Philippines

Podcast Episode
Colton and Glenn, also known on social media as the Nurse Daddies, take you through their personal journeys of what it means to live as openly gay men in 2025. This conversation offers differing perspectives and showcases that no journey through sexuality is the same and most certainly not a linear path . The Nurse Daddies explore the topic of Pride with unique perspectives, creating a judgement free zone for listeners to learn from, feel comfort, and relate through their own life story. Can you guess who each of their first celebrity crushes were?
"You don’t need to label yourself.”
The Nurse Daddies discuss labels that are slapped on your back once you identify yourself in any way. Some people find comfort and inclusion in labeling themselves, others find it suffocating. Find what works for you and take that route. It is important to allow yourself to change and evolve as time progresses. Our lives are meant to change as we grow and evolve. You are the only person who holds the power to decide who YOU are today and who YOU are tomorrow. And YOU can change that any time of any day!
Discrimination in the Workforce as Nurses
Glenn and Colton dive into what they have experienced as gay men in the workforce. Glenn remembers starting his job in the ER in Boston and not feeling discriminated against or judged by his peers. Colton realizes that there are so many factors that play into someone’s experience at work such as your geographical location, the staff you work with, etc. Both Nurse Daddies recall scenarios with patients using vulgar language at them during heated moments in the ER.
Embracing Who You Are & Radical Self Acceptance
Remember, there is only one of you in this entire world. Embrace every part of you, including your flaws and downfalls. The Nurse Daddies recognize that simply saying “just be yourself” is the worst advice in the entire world. Because who the hell knows how to just be themselves? None of us do! But if you can show up every single day and live in your truth, listen to your body, and be gentle with your wants and needs, I think you will be the closest to knowing your true self as you possibly can. We will leave you with this: you deserve to be here and to be here as your most authentic self. The world needs you, all of you. We love you and please know you are not alone in your struggles to self identity.
