Nurse Influencer Jen Hamilton Publishes First Book on Labor and Delivery
- Nurse influencer Jen Hamilton is a labor and delivery nurse with a large social media following.
- She has over six million followers across her platforms.
- The nurse and mom of two's first book on giving birth for expectant parents is available for pre-order, and it's already very in the running to be more popular than the classic "What to Expect When You're Expecting."

Popular nurse influencer and OB nurse Jen Hamilton (@_jen_hamilton_) has published her first book. The book, "Birth Vibes," is a birthing "companion" for expecting parents to help them find their birth vibes, which Hamilton dubs "a blend of values and vision" to help guide their medical care while welcoming their babies into the world.
As the treatment of pregnant patients has recently been called into question, Hamilton's book feels like a timely reminder of the importance of education and advocacy for anyone giving birth.
Her book is also important because, as it turns out, there really hasn't been a challenger to the classic "What to Expect When You're Expecting" labor prep guide—until now, of course. Hamilton's book may just change that and become the new go-to for expecting parents.
Who is Jen Hamilton?
Jen Hamilton is an RN from North Carolina. She was an ER nurse before transitioning to labor and delivery in 2018. She started sharing on social media, as so many did, during the pandemic in 2020, and quickly became a popular figure.
Today, she has over six million followers on her combined platforms, including Instagram and TikTok.
Hamilton also went viral after some followers tried to have her fired and stripped of her nursing license when she read from the Bible in response to some of the Trump administration's actions she disagreed with.
According to Jen's website, she is a nurse who is "passionate about improving outcomes for families, dismantling systemic racism and underlying misogyny that exists in obstetrical and gynecological care, and strongly believes the path to better outcomes starts with empathetic, timely, and compassionate communication."
She's popular among her followers for her stories on nursing, labor and delivery, and her fresh and humorous approach.
She has several catchphrases, such as her popular saying that "It's okay to be scared, because I'm not," which she says she uses with her patients who express fear about giving birth.
“Birth Vibes” Over Birth Plans
Hamilton’s book perfectly sums up the approach that has made her go viral: it's all about the vibes.
Instead of rigid birth plans, she encourages parents to focus on the emotional atmosphere and environment they want during labor and delivery—what she calls “birth vibes.”
Her framework gives parents practical ways to communicate their preferences with their care team, but leaves room for flexibility when things don’t go as planned. By helping parents focus on what’s important to them emotionally, Hamilton flips the script from “I failed because I didn’t stick to my birth plan” to “I felt heard and supported during my birth.”
Jen's book is so impressive that she even garnered a review from Ina May Gaskin, author of the international bestseller Ina May's Guide to Childbirth:
"I highly recommend Jen Hamilton's book Birth Vibes for pregnant women who plan to have hospital births. Jen understands how to communicate with women who feel the same joyful terror—as she calls it—that she instantly felt when her own two pregnancies were confirmed. Her skillful storytelling will engage anxious moms, and her explanations as to what to expect in labor and delivery are given with humor, heart, and honesty. Finally, her compassionate approach can help caregivers learn how to create and nurture trust in women who need to know that someone is going to work with them to achieve the best experience possible.”
What People Are Saying About the Book
Although Jen's book is only available as a pre-order right now, it's already climbing the charts.
Hamilton shared a very excited Instagram post about how, within only one day of the book being available for pre-ordering, it already climbed to #2 on the charts for books about pregnancy, falling directly behind the classic "What to Expect When You're Expecting."
"This is going to be THE MOST IMPORTANT BOOK to read as an expecting mother!" said one follower on Jen's page. "Thank you for addressing the things that NO OTHER LITERATURE out there talks about. Wish this had been available to me when I had my kids."
Birth Vibes is available for pre-order right now and will be released on May 5, 2026.
