Filipino Nurses Can Now Care for U.S. Patients Remotely

A new opportunity is emerging for Filipino nurses: the chance to work remotely for U.S. hospitals while remaining in the Philippines. Worldwide Resource Solutions (WWRS), a subsidiary of Worldwide HealthStaff Solutions and Medical Solutions, has launched the first virtual nursing hub in the Philippines, marking a potential shift in global healthcare delivery.
“Virtual sitting is already being done in the U.S.,” said Ron Hoppe, CEO of Worldwide HealthStaff Solutions and president of WWRS. “What’s never been done before is delivering that service using staff halfway around the world.”
How the Program Works
- The new operational site at the GBF Center in Bridgetowne, Quezon City, is the second Philippine location for WWRS and the first to offer 24/7 remote patient sitting and virtual nursing services for U.S. hospitals.
- Filipino nurses will use advanced telehealth platforms to monitor and support American patients, addressing critical staffing shortages in the U.S. without leaving their home country.
- Services include virtual patient monitoring, remote patient sitting, and other technology-driven nursing support, all coordinated with U.S. healthcare teams.
Why This Matters
- U.S. hospitals continue to face significant workforce shortages, especially in nursing. The virtual nursing model allows hospitals to “bring the work to where the workers are,” as Hoppe explained, rather than relying solely on international recruitment and relocation.
- Filipino nurses have long been integral to the U.S. healthcare system, with one out of 20 U.S. nurses trained in the Philippines. This new model expands their impact while allowing them to stay close to family and community.
What Filipino Nurses Can Expect
- Full-Time Remote Roles: Nurses will be employed in the Philippines but serve U.S. patients, with schedules aligned to U.S. hospital needs.
- Competitive Benefits: The program offers staff meals, health insurance, and life insurance, making it attractive for nurses seeking stability and international experience without migration.
- Professional Growth: Nurses will gain exposure to U.S. healthcare protocols and technology, enhancing their skills and career prospects.
- Support and Training: WWRS provides onboarding and ongoing support to ensure nurses are equipped for the demands of virtual care.
How to Apply
Qualified nurses—particularly those with a BS in Nursing—can apply through Worldwide Resource Solutions’ recruitment channels in the Philippines. The process includes screening, credentialing, and training to meet U.S. standards for virtual care.
A New Era for Filipino Nurses
This initiative represents a new chapter in the global nursing workforce. As demand for skilled nurses grows, innovative programs like this offer Filipino nurses a way to contribute to international healthcare while maintaining their roots at home.
“If we’re short on workers, we can’t educate our way out fast enough, and we can’t bring enough people to the U.S., then it makes sense to bring the work to where the workers are,” Hoppe emphasized.
For Filipino nurses seeking international experience without the challenges of relocation, this virtual nursing program opens doors—and sets a precedent for the future of global healthcare collaboration.
