Cincinnati Reds Nurse Night 2025: Nurse Throws First Pitch + Influencer Meetup!

⚾️ About Cincinnati Reds Nurse Appreciation Night
- Date: June 18, 2025, 7:10 PM EDT
- Location: Great American Ball Park, 100 Joe Nuxhall Way, Cincinnati, OH 45202, US
- Teams: Cincinnati Reds vs. Minnesota Twins
On June 18, 2025, the Cincinnati Reds took on the Baltimore Orioles during their nurse appreciation theme night! This exciting evening of baseball and nurse gratitude included three nominated nurses participating on the field. Chosen via an online vote, the winning nurse received the honor of throwing the ceremonial first pitch across the mound at Great American Ballpark - and the first runner-up was the catcher! The second runner-up was also honored on the field for their unyielding dedication to nursing care.
In addition to honoring our nurse winners, Nurse.org hosted a meet and greet with these amazing nurse influencers:
- Melanie, the nurse founder of Mel's Crafty CoRNer
- Musician and Nurse Content Creator Travius Keandric
- Nurse and Fitness Coach Georgie
- Nurse Mentor and Educator Brandy Pinkerton
... And, well, it was a blast!
Nurse Throws the First Pitch!
The winner of our online vote, ER Nurse Kaitlyn Weeks, got to chuck the ceremonial first pitch of the evening, while the runner-up, L&D Nurse Kiera Leiss caught. Additionally, our second runner-up, Nurse April Kidd-Brown, was honored by the Cincinnati Reds on the field.
To show these awesome nurses even more gratitude for the lives they save every day, they each also received two free game tickets, a pair of Clove shoes, Fabletics scrubs, a prize bundle from NuWest, and additional special prizes.
Learn more about our outstanding nurse winners:
Kaitlyn Weeks, First Pitch
Katilyn Weeks' coworker nominated her for this honor, writing, "Kaitlyn is an amazing person, inside and out! She has her BSN and is currently getting her NP. Kaitlyn worked in New York City before COVID started and chose to work on the front line throughout the whole pandemic.
In the past year, she moved back to Ohio, and that is where I officially met her as an amazing coworker and friend in my Emergency Room. She shares her horrific stories about the pain she went through during COVID, yet she has turned those stories into learning experiences.
She is continuing to better herself and our community by excelling in her education! She is beautiful, smart, and we are lucky to have her on our side daily! She truly is an amazing human!"
Kiera Leiss, First Catch
Nominated by a parent, Kiera Liess' submission read as follows, "Kiera Leiss is my Daughter, and a Labor and Delivery/mother baby nurse. She has been a nurse for 3 years now.
Kiera dedicates her hard work and passion to mothers who are childbearing and who go through the process of hard and painful labor up until they deliver and go through postpartum. Kiera has been nominated for four Daisy Awards from her patients who express gratitude for the care they’ve received from her while they were in the hospital. Kiera just finished getting her bachelor's degree in December of 2024, along with having her second baby in July of 2024.
Kiera and her family love going to the Reds games, and her 2-year-old daughter Violet loves the Cincinnati Reds. She carries around her Rosie Red doll and screams BASEBALL anytime she sees the C logo on anything. She always requests to wear her baseball shirts. This would mean the world to Kiera and her family to have this opportunity!"
April Kidd-Brown, Honored on the Field
April Kidd-Brown's nomination read, "April is the best nurse I've ever met. She is so funny, caring, and conscientious! Can't think of a better person to get honored on nurse's day!"
A Grand Slam Nurse Meet-Up
Despite a postponed game due to the heinous weather (see the video below, it's ridiculous!), Nurse.org’s Best of Nursing Award winners and nurse influencers still hosted an exclusive meetup during innings 1–3! Nurses had the chance to snap fun photos, mingle with their favorite creators, and score exciting prizes from our awesome partners -- Fabletics scrubs and Clove shoes!
And we want to extend a huge shoutout to the nurse creators who made this special meet and greet happen:
- Melanie of @mels.crafty.corner - Best Nurse Founded Business
- Travius of @traviuskeandric - Best Content Creator of The Year
- Georgie of @nurse.georgie - Nurse Wellness Advocate of The Year
- Brandy of @travnurse101 - Nurse Mentor of The Year

Memory Lane: Recapping Reds 2019 Nurse Night
In 2019, Nurse.org and Nurse Blake hosted a Nurse Appreciation Night with over 2,000 nurses.

Special thanks to Jaanuu Scrubs for dressing our Nurse Heroes in custom scrubs!
Nurse hero, Laurel Stein, threw the ceremonial first pitch! Laurel was voted as the nurse to throw the first pitch through an online voting poll. What an amazing memory!
Nurse Blake was our special guest!
It was an amazing Nurse Night with nurses traveling from all over the area to join in on the festivities!
They arrived in groups, decked out in their Reds gear and home-made nurse t-shirts while displaying their creative Nurse Night signs!
