Registered Nurse 3 (RN3) Washington State Penitentiary Walla Walla, WA

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Registered Nurse 3 (Nursing Supervisor) for the Washington State Penitentiary (WSP) located in Walla Walla, WA.

The hours for this position are 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday off.

Washington State Penitentiary (WSP) is a 2400 bed facility with all levels of custody for men. It is located just outside the city, farms, and vineyards of Walla Walla. Four separate facilities exist within the institution, each of which houses a different custody level of offender.

This position manages the Infection Control Program in an adult correctional facility and is responsible for the following: -Coordinate the isolation and treatment of communicable/infectious diseases. -Oversee annual TB testing of all inmates. -Coordinate annual influenza vaccinations -Conducts source person testing for occupational exposures to blood and/or body fluids. -Monitors and administers the inmate Hepatitis C program and coordinates treatment, medical assessments and provides inmate education. -Coordinates administration of Hepatitis A and B vaccines. -Network with Department of Health, CDC, EPA and other regulatory agencies. -Assures compliance with ACA/Operations Inspection standards covering Communicable Disease and -the Infection Control Program.


The ability to obtain a valid Washington State license to practice as a Registered Nurse prior to employment; Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing; (Note: Must have initial and continuous unblemished/unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse).


Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse which includes: experience as a shift charge nurse or another position which included assignment of tasks and supervision of other nursing personnel in the delivery of patient care. Additional work experience as a Registered Nurse 2 is highly desirable for most RN 3 positions.

The ideal candidate will also have:

Prior experience as an Infection Control Nurse APIC Certification in Infection Control (or equivalent).
