An Illinois registered nurse has been accused of neglecting nursing home residents in her care by allegedly working while intoxicated.

Angela S. Hutchison, 47, has been charged with one count of criminal neglect of a facility resident, a Class 4 felony. A warrant has been issued for her arrest.

Allegation details

An unidentified source recently filed a criminal complaint against Hutchison with the McHenry County Circuit Court. The complaint stated that Hutchison was employed as a registered nurse at Fair Oaks Health Care Center, a skilled nursing and long-term care facility in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

The complaint accuses Hutchison of criminally neglecting the residents at the facility by working while she was intoxicated. Her actions “recklessly created a substantial likelihood” that a resident’s condition could deteriorate or their life would be in danger under her care, the document claimed.

The complaint listed an offense date of June 11. Public court records show that a warrant was issued for Hutchison’s arrest on July 10 and that a preliminary hearing date has been set for July 26.

Hutchison has not yet been taken into police custody.

Nursing license status

According to Nursys, Angela S. Hutchison has been a licensed registered nurse in the state of Illinois since 2009. Her license is still listed as active and unencumbered.
