Influencer vs. ER Nurse: TikToker Accuses RN of Being a 'Hater' Over a Halter Top
- TikTok influencer Tara Lynn of @taraswrld has racked up millions of views after calling an alleged ER nurse and follower a "hater" for not letting her borrow a halter top.
- Lynn says the two were chatting for "12 hours" before New Year's Eve about plans to let Lynn borrow a specific sold-out halter top before the woman ghosted her.
- The woman claims she's an ER nurse who got stuck at work and couldn't contact Lynn until her shift ended at 3 AM.
A recent TikTok drama has set the internet abuzz, pitting the expectations of social media fame against the all-too-real demands of healthcare work.
The star of this episode is Los Angeles influencer Tara Lynn (@taraswrld), who has gathered a massive following of over five million. Her gripe? A follower who said she is an emergency room nurse didn’t come through with a trendy outfit in time for Tara’s New Year’s Eve bash.
This drama unfolded because a nurse, juggling the chaos of her emergency department, couldn’t deliver a promised fashion item on time. In response, Tara called the nurse a "hater" and posted another video bashing the nurse for the "f***** up thing" she had done.

When Commitments Hit the ER Wall
Here’s the tea: The saga began with Tara's hunt for a specific For Love & Lemons halter top that had vanished from online shelves. It was sold out everywhere and Tara really wanted to wear it to a specific New Year's Eve event she was attending, so she reached out to her followers to see if any of them had it and would be willing to let her borrow it.
Tara claims that many of her fans offered the shirt in exchange for money, but one long-time follower stepped up with a noble offer: she’d lend Tara the top for free with the understanding that it'd be returned after the holiday.
Things turned ugly, however, when the woman stopped responding to Tara before the event, only to later claim that she was an ER nurse who got busy at work and didn't get out of her shift until 3 AM, long after the party was over.
The ER nurse says she actually got swept up in working, you know, as an ER nurse, and didn't have time to get Tara the top or let her know of the change in plans.
Tara wasn't happy to miss out on the look she had been planning, and quickly accused the halter offerer of being a "hater" in a TikTok.
Tara's video quickly amassed over two million views. She implied a calculated sabotage of her New Year's plans.
Naturally, this didn’t sit well with the nurse, who jumped into the comments to explain her side. She had been drafted into an unexpected overtime shift and had already sent her apologies privately.

Despite a supposed private apology and a public apology, Tara has not let up, going on to post several more follow-up videos defending her reaction to the nurse bailing on her. In a second video, Tara said she had been talking to the nurse for "12 hours," starting the night before NYE.
"I didn't go to the mall to get a shirt, because she said she would give me the halter top," Tara explained, then going on to say that by 4 o'clock, with a 6 o'clock departure time looming, the nurse just "stops answering."
Tara's beef, she alleged in the video, was the fact that the nurse never mentioned she had an upcoming shift in the time they had been chatting, which she believes could have solved the whole situation.
"So, yeah, I was annoyed," Tara said.

Tara even went on to accuse her followers of overreacting to the drama and the videos, noting that the ER nurse announced she was taking a step back from TikTok as a result of the backlash.
"What are we even talking about?" Tara quipped. "Everyone needs to be heavily medicated this year."

Halter Top Drama
A few lone commenters backed Tara, noting that they had been bullied by "friends" who offered to help them, then would ghost at the last minute.
“Shouldn’t have offered if you’re that busy, my love! Thank you for what you do, but don’t offer if you can’t deliver,” chimed in one supporter. Others wondered why the nurse hadn’t sent the top before her shift or at least given Tara a heads-up that she might get called in.
Meanwhile, the majority of commenters seemed to rally behind the nurse, pointing out the unpredictable chaos of healthcare work and the nationwide nursing shortage.
"Expecting an ER NURSE on NYE to prioritize you is wild," wrote one TikTok commenter.
"Mind you she’s talking abt an ESSENTIAL worker during one of the busiest times of the year! Hope this helps!"
"I'm on the nurses side, we actually need them, we don't need influencers 😂" added another.
Public Expectations vs. Nursing Reality
This TikTok drama also brings up a bigger issue: Does society really understand what nurses deal with? Nurses often face criticism no matter what they do. If they prioritize patients, they're accused of letting down personal commitments. If they prioritize personal commitments, they're accused of neglecting patients. It’s a lose-lose.
Hospital policies restricting phone use are there for good reasons, like protecting patient privacy and ensuring focused care. But it does make it tough to send a quick “Oops, gotta work late!” text.

This incident also throws light on public perception of healthcare work and the ongoing staffing crisis. Tara’s initial criticism might still be floating around online, but it’s sparked a broader debate about what society values more—saving lives or social media hits.
As for Tara, she seems to have no regrets over how she handled the situation and is not interested in apologizing to the alleged ER nurse for letting her down.
