Pregnant Nurse Attacked by Juvenile Patient at Akron Children's Hospital

A juvenile patient at Akron Children’s Hospital in Ohio reportedly assaulted a nurse on Wednesday evening, March 12, prompting an emergency response from hospital security and law enforcement.
Incident Details
The patient, described as female, attacked the nine-month-pregnant nurse in the hospital's emergency room at approximately 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12. The alleged attack occurred after the nurse asked the patient to remove an article of clothing.
According to a police report, the patient initially refused, prompting suspicion that she was "hiding something." When she eventually complied, the patient grabbed a shoe and threw it at the nurse, striking her in the chest. The situation escalated when the patient slammed the nurse into a wall, grabbed another shoe, and continued striking her in the head, according to multiple witness statements.
One witness recalled hearing screams from the back of the emergency department: "She's pregnant, stop hitting her!" The patient allegedly responded, "I don’t give a (expletive) if she’s pregnant."
Other hospital workers intervened and restrained the patient while security and police officers responded to multiple panic alarms. The patient’s grandmother, who was in the ER, was reportedly "upset" following the incident.

Nurse's Condition and Investigation
The nurse was transported to another emergency room for evaluation. Her current condition and the extent of her injuries have not been disclosed. Officers did not find contraband on the patient. Law enforcement has not released information regarding potential charges against the patient because she is a minor.
Akron Children's Hospital issued a statement confirming the incident but declined to provide additional details, citing confidentiality policies.
