Last night, at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, actor Noah Wyle won his first-ever Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in The Pitt. Wyle beat out other nominees including Sterling K. Brown (Paradise), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us), and Adam Scott (Severance) for the award.
Wyle walked the red carpet in a custom tuxedo designed by FIGS, the popular scrubs brand loved by nurses nationwide.
A Win Years in the Making
For many in the healthcare community who have followed Wyle’s career, this win felt especially resonant. It came 26 years after his last Emmy nomination, which was for his work as Dr. John Carter on ER. Wyle’s long-running connection with medical dramas gives him a deep context for the triumph — not just for himself, but for the real people who work in emergency rooms.
In his acceptance speech, Wyle did more than thank friends and collaborators — he honored those who inspired The Pitt, especially emergency room workers. He said, “to anybody who’s going on shift tonight or coming off shift tonight, thank you for being in that job!”
The FIGS Tux — A Scrubs Company Steps Into the Red Carpet
In a stylish twist, Wyle’s black tux was designed by FIGS, a brand best known for revolutionizing medical scrubs with modern, functional designs. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the tux featured tailoring details drawn from their healthcare line, symbolically blending the world of medicine and Hollywood. This was FIGS’ first-ever custom tuxedo, and also their first time outfitting a celebrity for the red carpet.
FIGS co-CEO Trina Spear said, “Tonight, Noah is proving that the health care community deserves a seat at every table, including television’s biggest night. By honoring health care workers, Noah’s commitment to authentically representing these extraordinary individuals on the red carpet embodies everything FIGS stands for. We are honored to create this one-of-a-kind piece that celebrates all health care workers off the screen. We thank Noah for championing health care workers and their stories through his art.”
For many nurses watching, it was a full-circle moment. FIGS is the daily uniform of countless healthcare workers, and seeing it reimagined as red carpet couture brought visibility and celebration to the nursing community.
The details of the tux were subtle but telling: the shirt had the phrase “Awesome Human” embroidered inside the collar — referencing the FIGS brand slogan “Awesome Humans Wear FIGS.” Wyle described the tux as both comfortable and stylish, nodding to his role as a doctor and to the real-world medical professionals who wear scrubs every shift.
In an era when many healthcare workers feel underappreciated, moments like this send a powerful message: the work, often invisible outside the hospital, is seen and honored.
Congratulations, Dr. Robinavitch! We can’t wait for season 2.
