Microsoft Launches Copilot Health 'Hub' to Access and Interpret All Users' Health Data
- AI-powered health insights: Copilot Health analyzes wearable data, medical records, and lab results to generate personalized insights and help users better understand their health trends.
- Designed to support—not replace—clinicians: The tool aims to help patients prepare for medical visits and ask better questions, but it is not intended to diagnose or treat conditions.
- Privacy and safety emphasized: Microsoft says the platform isolates health data, uses encryption and strict controls, and does not use personal health information for model training.
Microsoft has introduced Copilot Health, a new AI-powered platform designed to help people better understand their personal health information by bringing medical records, wearable data, and lab results into a single interface.
Announced on March 12, 2026, the new tool will launch through a phased rollout in the United States, beginning with an early-access waitlist for adults aged 18 and older.
According to Microsoft, the platform is intended to address a growing challenge in modern healthcare: patients often have access to large amounts of health data but struggle to interpret what it means.
"We're launching Copilot Health to help people make sense of their health and show up better prepared for every conversation with their doctor," Dr. Dominic King, VP, Microsoft AI, tells Nurse.org. "This is our path toward medical superintelligence, AI that brings the breadth of a general physician and the depth of a specialist to everyone. Copilot Health is not intended to replace clinical advice from doctors and nurses but to support and guide consumers and patients with insights and information.”

A Central Hub for Personal Health Data
According to Microsoft, Copilot Health will pull together health information from several sources to create one cohesive profile.
“Most people don’t need more information,” Microsoft wrote in its announcement. “They need help to make sense of what they already have.”
The platform can integrate:
- Wearable device data, such as activity levels, sleep patterns, and vital signs from devices connected through Apple Health, Fitbit, Oura, and other platforms
- Electronic health records from more than 50,000 U.S. hospitals and healthcare organizations through Microsoft’s HealthEx system
- Laboratory results, including detailed test data from partner diagnostic services
By analyzing all the data together, Copilot Health aims to identify patterns and trends that may not be immediately obvious to patients, such as links between sleep quality, activity levels, and symptoms.
In its announcement, Microsoft added that the goal is to help users better understand their health history and prepare for conversations with clinicians.
It's not immediately clear from Microsoft's announcement how Copilot Health has access to the EHRs from hospitals and healthcare organizations, or if users will need to opt in to any permissions to gain access to the records.
Supporting Clinical Care (Not Replacing It)
Microsoft emphasized that Copilot Health is designed as a companion tool, not a replacement for healthcare professionals.
Instead, the system is intended to help users arrive at appointments with more informed questions and a clearer understanding of their health history.
The company says its broader consumer health tools already respond to more than 50 million health-related questions each day, and Copilot Health builds on those capabilities by incorporating personal health data.
Responses within the platform draw from vetted information sources and include citations to medical organizations and expert-written health content.
The tool can also help users search for healthcare providers using real-time U.S. directories, filtering by specialty, location, insurance coverage, and languages spoken.
Moving Toward “Medical Superintelligence”
Copilot Health is also intended to build towards what Microsoft dubbed "medical superintelligence," the company announced:
"This work paves the way to providing users with trusted access to medical superintelligence – health AI that can ultimately combine the wide-ranging knowledge of a general physician, with the depth of a specialist."
However, Microsoft added that any additional features using advanced diagnostic capabilities will only be released following clinical evaluation and clear labeling.
Privacy and Security Protections
Because the platform handles sensitive health information, Microsoft says Copilot Health was designed with additional privacy safeguards.
Key protections include:
- Separate storage and processing from general Copilot conversations
- Encryption of data both in transit and at rest
- Strict access controls
- The ability for users to disconnect data sources or delete information at any time
Microsoft also says health data stored within Copilot Health will not be used to train AI models.
The system was developed with input from an internal clinical team and an external advisory panel of more than 230 physicians from 24 countries, as well as in collaboration with AARP and the National Health Council.
Copilot Health has also achieved ISO/IEC 42001 certification, a new international standard governing AI management systems.
How to Get Copilot Health
You can sign up to join the Copilot Health launch waitlist, with the initial rollout limited to English-speaking users in the United States.
Microsoft says additional languages and voice features are in development and will be introduced as the platform expands.
The company also emphasized that Copilot Health is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent disease, and should not replace professional medical advice.
