#FloridaMan Nurse Goes Rogue with a Stabbing and Taser at Big Ugly Fish in Michigan

Imagine you’re just trying to unwind at a bar during the holidays when a Florida man shows up, wielding weapons and wreaking havoc. Yes, even up in Saginaw, Michigan, the chaos of Florida can find you.

Our story begins at Big Ugly Fish, a bar that was definitely living up to its name on December 28th, 2024. The night took a turn when a 46-year-old Florida nurse, Aaron R. Gann, brought his very un-holiday-like energy into the mix. Witnesses say Gann was calling the bartender names that would make even a sailor blush and being generally unbearable (you know, standard #FloridaMan behavior).

Naturally, the staff decided enough was enough and, with help from some heroic patrons, gave Gann the boot. But Gann wasn’t ready to leave without making his mark—literally. He whipped out a knife and a Taser and stabbed a 63-year-old man in the groin.

Yes, you read that right. This guy went full “Silent Night, Violent Night.”

But wait, there’s more! Gann took off running, but not far enough because Saginaw’s finest, along with Michigan State Police, were on the case. After refusing to surrender, he was finally apprehended with a bloody knife, Taser, and baton in hand.

This wasn’t Gann’s first Big Ugly Fish rodeo. Just days earlier, he’d been arrested at the same bar for being—you guessed it—belligerent. That time, he reportedly cursed out officers and tried to break the windows of a patrol car with his head and feet.

Gann was charged with assault with intent to murder, possession of a Taser, and assaulting police officers. His bond was set at $100,000, and one condition of his release was to steer clear of Big Ugly Fish.

Turns out, Gann has been a registered nurse in Florida since 2017 and was working as a travel nurse in Michigan. Let’s just hope he sticks to administering medication and not... groin stabbings.

So, what’s the moral of the story? Maybe it’s that #FloridaMan energy knows no borders, or maybe it’s a reminder to always avoid bars named after unattractive aquatic creatures.

Stay safe, stay sane, and maybe skip that Florida travel contract for a while.
