Roommate Charged After British Nursing Student Found Dead Following Argument Over Cats

Tamilore Odunsi, a 23-year-old nursing student from the United Kingdom, was found dead in her Houston, Texas apartment, allegedly at the hands of her 40-year-old roommate Chester Lamar Grant over an argument about their cats, according to People.Â
Incident Details
On April 26, 2025, Houston police conducted a welfare check at Odunsi's residence after concerns were raised by a family friend who had been unable to contact her. Upon arrival, officers observed blood on the rear patio and forced entry into the apartment. Inside, they discovered Odunsi deceased in the kitchen with multiple stab wounds. In a bedroom, they found her roommate, 40-year-old Chester Lamar Grant, suffering from self-inflicted stab wounds. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Background
Odunsi and Grant had reportedly been living together for approximately two months. According to authorities, the fatal altercation was preceded by a dispute over their cats. Following his recovery, Grant was charged with murder on May 3, 2025, and is scheduled to appear in court on May 5.Â

Known on TikTok as @tamidollars, Odunsi had amassed over 30,000 followers by sharing her experiences as an international nursing student. In her final post, she expressed excitement about her upcoming graduation and summer plans.Â
In the wake of her death, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to assist with repatriating her body to the United Kingdom and covering funeral expenses. As of May 4, the fundraiser had surpassed its ÂŁ40,000 goal, raising over ÂŁ54,000.
