Jay Larrosa
Nurses are essential to healthcare not only through direct patient care, but through advocacy that drives systemic change and strengthens community well-being. Header 6
👉Jay Larrosa , MSN, PHN, RN-BC, ACM-RN, FACDONA
I embody this mission through leadership, education, and content creation focused on nursing advocacy, mental health, and patient-centered care.
As a passionate mental health advocate, I have organized free community mental health events that raise awareness, reduce stigma, and connect underserved populations with critical resources. I also champion mental health awareness among healthcare professionals by equipping nurses with the knowledge and tools needed to recognize and address mental health needs in clinical settings, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
As a recognized nurse leader in case management and transitions of care, I am a sought-after speaker at local, state, national, and international conferences. I also advocate at the legislative level, notably lobbying to waive the Medicare three-midnight rule to improve access to skilled nursing facilities, directly benefiting patients and advancing health equity.
In recognition of my overall impact, I was awarded the American Nurses California Excellence in Advocacy Award in April 2025 for shaping healthcare policy and promoting nursing’s influence in the legislative arena. Through education on healthcare insurance and policy navigation, I empower both patients and providers. My advocacy, leadership, and digital voice continue to shape a more compassionate, informed, and just healthcare system.
Jen Hamilton | @jen_hamilton
Jen consistently, clearly, and very articulately advocates for mothers and mothers-to-be, babies, people who are victims of injustice, and even other content creators who just need a boost.
She has raised funds for a variety of causes. One of the things she says to her L&D patients is: “It’s okay to be scared, because I’m not.”
John Dela Cruz | @nurse.johnn
He is funny and able to relate to the real-life daily struggles of nurses.
At least we know we are not alone in this.
Maggie Ortiz | @advocates4nurses
A dedicated advocate working to amplify nurses’ voices!
Maggie pushes for safer workplaces and fair treatment. I've learned a lot about BON investigations from her.
Marion Leary | @marionleary
I am a passionate activist, advocate, and organizer and have been for over thirty years—I have also been a nurse for almost twenty of those years.
In that time, in addition to my professional roles at the University of Pennsylvania, I have volunteered for many partisan and non-partisan causes and organized and led marches and rallies to stand up for science and healthcare. I have used storytelling as a way to connect with communities, including through a nonprofit organization I founded to help people overwhelmed by medical expenses raise funds to pay their medical bills.
As a nurse leader, I have championed civic engagement in the profession and beyond. There is nothing I feel more strongly about than nurses using their collective voices and power for change. I strongly believe having more nurses engage in civic and political advocacy is better for patients and communities. That is why I lead by example and spend most of my free time knocking on doors, making phone calls, writing letters and op-eds, showing up, and organizing. In 2017, I helped organize the March for Science in Philadelphia where over 20,000 people took to the streets. Earlier this year, I spoke at and helped organize the Stand Up for Science rally in Philadelphia. I continue to organize events and share my advocacy on social media to inspire others to use their voice.
Nicole Moore | @thatnursethatwontstfu
Why I should win the Nurse Advocate Creator award is because I am not here for aesthetics, trends, or “cute nurse content.” I am here for the fire.
I advocate from the inside out—not as a brand, but as a nurse who has lived the consequences of chronic understaffing, moral injury, retaliation, and the quiet suffering we pretend isn't happening.
I am the nurse who refused unsafe assignments.
I am the nurse who said no when it mattered.
I am the nurse who quit as soon as the retaliation became blatant.
I am the nurse who turned trauma into testimony, burnout into a bestseller, and my voice into a megaphone for the ones who are too tired or too scared to speak.
I didn’t build a platform on fluff. I built it on truth.
4,000+ books sold in 2 months—not because I am an influencer, but because nurses saw themselves in my words and passed them through units like contraband hope. Because someone finally said what they’ve been choking on for years.
I’m the creator who doesn’t polish the edges. I use dark humor because it’s survival. I write stories that make nurses cry in breakrooms and feel less alone in their grief. I turn lived experience into collective language—the kind that makes people whisper, “Finally, somebody said it.”
My advocacy isn’t theoretical. It’s lived. It’s raw. It’s mine. And I’m just getting started.
I’m Nicole Moore—a critical care nurse, mother, survivor, and author who decided that silence wasn’t safety…it was a slow death. I don’t advocate from a podium. I advocate from the bedside, from unsafe shifts, and from nights I questioned my humanity after losing a patient because the system failed us both.
I write because nurses deserve to be heard.
I speak because change requires volume.
I create because someone has to start the fire.
I’m not here to be palatable. I’m here to be the match.

Mary Jenner | @thebutterflypig
Mary Jenner creates highly shareable, educational short-form videos centered on realistic miniature medical devices that mirror what children actually experience in hospitals.
With over 100k followers across platforms, her content uses these tools to make pediatric medical care visible and understandable—both for families going through it and for clinicians who provide it. By showing procedures, equipment, and workflows through the lens of play, her videos help children, parents, and healthcare workers feel seen, represented, and better prepared for real medical experiences.
What makes the content uniquely engaging is the realism and interactivity of the toys she designs and manufactures herself. Viewers recognize the exact devices, setups, and situations they’ve lived through on both sides of the bedrails.
Underneath the play is a clear, consistent message: children deserve respect, agency, and involvement in their medical care. The content reframes pediatric care through preparation, participation, and understanding rather than fear and force.
All concepts are evidence-based and grounded in child development, psychology, and pediatric nursing science, making the videos not just engaging, but clinically meaningful.

Whether he's pulling fellow creators into his music videos, amplifying voices on his socials, or hyping up the newest nurse with 47 followers like they're already a star, Travius understands that collaboration isn't a strategy…it's a mindset. The nursing community is stronger because he refuses to rise alone.

Lori Lynne Huff
I have had so many setbacks due to failing the NCLEX-PN, and having test anxiety so severe that I thought I would never become a nurse, or thought that I wasn't smart enough.
I was accepted into the nursing school upon completion of a passing score on my TEAS, which I take in March 2026, so I am praying that I at least get into the program, after all I graduated with a LPN certificate but could never practice due to me failing the NCLEX 2 times. The third time, I was in a car accident on my way to take the NCLEX, and lost my seat, and was not able to test. I had lost all hope, but I am very resilient and keep trying. Nothing has ever become easy in my life, but I don't give up.

WeCare Nonprofit Foundation | @wecare_nonprofit_foundation
WeCare Nonprofit Foundation exists for one simple but urgent reason: to care for those who care for us.
Nurse-founded, WeCare was created in direct response to the growing emotional, physical, and moral burden placed on healthcare professionals, especially in moments of crisis, trauma, and exhaustion.
What sets WeCare apart is not only what we do, but how we do it. WeCare is deeply rooted in lived experience. Our programs are informed by nurses and healthcare professionals who understand firsthand the realities of burnout, secondary trauma, workplace violence, grief, and compassion fatigue. This proximity to the problem allows WeCare to respond with authenticity, relevance, and trust.
Over the past year, WeCare has provided tangible, immediate support through wellness boxes, community events, retreats, conferences, and continuing education, meeting healthcare workers where they are, both emotionally and professionally. Beyond resources, WeCare has created spaces for connection and collective care, reminding healthcare professionals that they are not alone and that their wellbeing matters.
A core part of this impact is WeCare’s CME wellness boxes, intentional, timely interventions designed to reach healthcare professionals during periods of crisis and burnout. These boxes are created by healthcare professionals, for healthcare professionals, combining continuing education with thoughtfully curated resources that support mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. By integrating education with care, WeCare meets clinicians in real time, offering both professional development and meaningful support when it is needed most.
Based in Minneapolis and serving nurses nationwide, WeCare has shown up with compassion and leadership during moments of profound loss and community trauma, including responses to the Annunciation School tragedy, the loss of Nurse Alex Pretti, and other crises affecting healthcare professionals. In these moments, WeCare has held space for remembrance, healing, and solidarity, acknowledging that nurses and healthcare professionals do not get to stop showing up for others, even in their own grief. WeCare exists to ensure someone is showing up for them.
WeCare’s impact extends beyond individual programs. We are actively shifting the narrative around healthcare work, advocating for sustainable care, human-centered systems, and a culture that values the mental and emotional health of those on the front lines. Our work strengthens not only healthcare professionals, but the patients, families, and communities they serve.
Being named Nonprofit of the Year would honor a nurse-founded organization that leads with empathy, integrity, and action. It would recognize the essential truth at the heart of WeCare’s mission: when we care for healthcare professionals, we care for everyone.
Nurse Event – Finalists
Camp NurseCon | @nurseconofficial
An event that is truly rare and deeply needed in nursing: a space where education, healing, and human connection happen at the same time.
Beyond delivering high-quality, accredited learning, Camp NurseCon restores nurses in ways that go far beyond the classroom.
I witnessed something genuinely miraculous while watching this group of nurses come together. Strangers arrived carrying exhaustion, grief, burnout, and self-doubt, and within days became a community rooted in trust, laughter, vulnerability, and unwavering support. Nurses lifted one another up, shared stories they hadn’t felt safe enough to tell elsewhere, and reminded each other that they are not alone.
Camp NurseCon doesn’t just educate nurses. It reconnects them to themselves, to one another, and to the heart of why they chose this profession. Nurses leave not only more skilled and informed, but lighter, stronger, and deeply seen. That kind of impact doesn’t end when the event does, it ripples outward into units, hospitals, families, and patients. That is why Camp NurseCon isn’t just an event, it’s a transformative experience worthy of recognition.

PRN Healthcare | @prnhealthcare
PRN Healthcare’s Lunch on Us series was created with one simple goal: to show genuine appreciation for nurses in a meaningful, human way.
Throughout the summer, we provided complimentary lunches to nurses as a small but intentional gesture of gratitude for the tireless work they do every day.
Rather than only hosting a one time event during nurses week, Lunch on Us was a sustained effort that allowed us to connect with nurses all summer long. Sharing a meal gave us the opportunity to say “thank you” in a way that felt personal, thoughtful, and sincere.
The impact of the series went beyond the lunches themselves. Nurses felt seen, valued, and recognized not just as professionals, but as people. The events created space for real conversations, relationship-building, and moments of encouragement. It also gave our local nurses a chance to meet with their recruiters in real life vs just over the phone.
Lunch on Us reflects PRN Healthcare’s clinician-first values and our belief that appreciation should be consistent, authentic, and action-driven. By investing time, resources, and presence throughout the entire summer, we demonstrated our ongoing commitment to supporting nurses and celebrating the vital role they play in healthcare.

They are a nonprofit based out of Lancaster PA whose mission is to support and care for nurses and they do that through so many ways, one of them being events for nurses. These events are amazing. From huge conferences, to monthly peer groups and monthly workshops, I have attended as many as I could and it is always an uplifting time to feel community support, get connected with other nurses, learn and get CEs for my license. This is an incredible organization who deserves the recognition for all they do for their community. Oh, not to mention they rushed in when the UPMC Memorial shooting happened in my town. They deserve the recognition.
TravCon | @travelersconference

Nurse Book – Finalists
Behind The Nurse’s Smile | @thatnursethatwontstfu
I wrote the book, Behind The Nurse’s Smile, that cracked open the silence — the rage, the burnout, the grief, the system failures we were told to swallow.
“I’m not the nurse creator who posts cute scrubs, meal-prepped salads, and “you got this babe” reels.
I’m the nurse who said what everyone else was choking on.
I wrote the book, Behind The Nurse’s Smile, that cracked open the silence — the rage, the burnout, the grief, the system failures we were told to swallow.
I didn’t have a TikTok empire. I didn’t have sponsors. I didn’t have a PR team or publisher.
I had a laptop, a few years of trauma, and the audacity to tell the truth.
And nurses across the world said, “Finally.”
My work isn’t polished for the algorithm.
It’s for the nurses crying in their cars.
It’s for the ones who stayed late again.
It’s for the ones who were told to tough it out.
It’s for the ones who were punished for speaking up.
It’s for the ones who still believe the profession deserves better.
I don’t create for applause.
I create because the system keeps trying to bury the very people keeping it alive.
But nurses don’t bury easy.
In two months, I independently sold over 4,000 copies of my debut book—
not because it was marketed, but because nurses passed it to each other like a lifeline.
My platform isn’t built on aesthetics.
It’s built on impact.
Pain recognized.
Truth told.
Courage echoed.
Why am I nominating myself?
Because I’m not here to entertain the profession.
I’m here to move it.
Nursing doesn’t need another sanitized creator.
It needs someone who doesn’t flinch when the truth gets ugly.
That’s what I do.
That’s what I’ve always done.
That’s what I’ll keep doing,
for the nurses who still feel invisible, unheard, and exhausted.
I don’t represent the brand of nursing.
I represent the heartbeat of it.”

INVESTING NURSES™: From Undervalued to Unstoppable – The Nurse Investing Guide by Bridgette Kingsberry, LVN
“From Undervalued to Unstoppable: The Nurse Investing Guide by Bridgette Kingsberry, LVN was created to address a critical and overlooked gap in nursing: financial literacy and long-term wealth education for nurses.
👉Bridgette Kingsberry - Lanzuela
🔖INVESTING NURSES™: From Undervalued to Unstoppable – The Nurse Investing Guide
While nurses are highly educated in patient care, most receive little to no training in investing, retirement planning, or building financial independence leaving many overworked, underpaid, and financially stressed.
Drawing from her own real-life journey of turning a $500 investment into over $12,000 and building long-term wealth while working bedside, Bridgette created a practical, nurse-centered investing guide that breaks down complex financial concepts into clear, relatable language tailored specifically for healthcare professionals. The book empowers nurses to move beyond paycheck-to-paycheck living and take control of their financial futures through ethical, long-term investing strategies.
What sets this book apart is its mission-driven approach: it is not about “get rich quick” tactics, but about sustainable wealth-building, financial confidence, and reclaiming professional power in a system where nurses are often undervalued. Through her INVESTING NURSES™ platform, Bridgette has also expanded the book’s impact through educational YouTube content and community engagement, reaching thousands of nurses seeking financial freedom without burnout.
This nomination deserves to win because it represents innovation in nurse education, addresses a real and urgent need within the profession, and equips nurses with life-changing financial knowledge that directly improves their long-term well-being, career autonomy, and quality of life.”
New to ICU®: A Visual Guide to Critical Care Nursing | @scrublifenotes
I am nominating the book: New to ICU®: A Visual Guide to Critical Care Nursing by ScrubLifeNotes® for the Nurse Book category because it has become a trusted, practical education resource for novice nurses navigating one of the most challenging transitions in healthcare: entering critical care practice.
🔖New to ICU®: A Visual Guide to Critical Care Nursing
Designed as a visual, high-yield reference, New to ICU® bridges the gap between nursing school and real-world ICU care by breaking down complex concepts (such as ventilator basics, hemodynamics, shock states, invasive devices, vasopressors, and CRRT) into clear, intuitive visuals that nurses can quickly reference at the bedside or during orientation. Since its launch in 2023, the guide has reached 50,000+ critical care nurses across all 50 states and 14 countries, has been adopted by new graduate residency programs and ICU educators, and is now an AACN-endorsed education vendor, underscoring its credibility and impact.
What sets New to ICU® apart is its ability to make learning both effective and approachable. The book was created by Lauren Douglass, a nurse with firsthand ICU experience and a deep understanding of how nurses actually learn under pressure. By combining evidence-based content with thoughtful design and clarity, the guide reduces cognitive overload, builds confidence, and directly supports safer patient care.
New to ICU® is more than just a book. It is a modern education tool that empowers nurses, supports preceptors and educators, and strengthens the nursing workforce. For its innovation, reach, and meaningful contribution to nursing education, it is highly deserving of recognition in the Nurse Book category.”

Nursing AI Tool – Finalists
CerTracker | @certracker
Devin Patterson and CerTracker deserve to be recognized not just for nursing innovation but for putting nurses first.
CerTracker is the first AI-powered compliance and credentialing platform built specifically for nurses, and Devin’s vision is as practical as it is protective: reduce the burden, restore time, and shield nurses from credential-related risks.
By automating license tracking and verification, certification renewals, and CE documentation, CerTracker cuts administrative workload by up to 90%. Its “Magic Upload” feature lets nurses drop in all their documents and walk away—AI handles expiration dates, record population, issue detection, and more. But beyond streamlining, Devin tackled something no one else in the space had: license identity protection. CerTracker is the only platform that actively protects nurses from credential fraud, a growing and often invisible threat.
Devin’s work isn’t about flashy tech; it’s about solving the quiet, daily pain points that so often go unseen. CerTracker frees nurses from the paperwork pileup, ensures audit-readiness, and delivers peace of mind. It’s a tool that respects the profession because it was built by someone who have lived the pain.
In honoring Devin and CerTracker, Nurse.org would be spotlighting not just a tool but a values-driven shift in what nursing technology can be: safe, smart, and deeply in service of those who care for others.

Nurse Connect | @nurseconnect_
Nurse Connect is a nurse-built marketplace that allows nurses to work independently, connect directly with patients, and practice on their own terms.
It was created by nurses who have experienced both the burnout of traditional roles and the stress families face when flexible care is hard to find.
The platform opens doors for nurses who can’t fit into rigid schedules (parents, caregivers, semi-retired clinicians) to continue nursing in a way that works for their lives. It also gives nurses in traditional roles a way to earn extra income and explore independence without leaving their primary job.
Nurse Connect is unapologetically nurse-first. There are no agencies or middlemen, and nurses keep 100% of what they earn. It exists to make independent nursing possible, sustainable, and respected. Nurse Connect is the TaskRabbit of nursing, bridging the gaps in home healthcare by turning independent nurses into accessible, trusted care for every home that needs it.

Everything we do begins and ends with our clinicians.
We believe exceptional patient care starts with supported, informed, and genuinely valued healthcare professionals—and that belief shapes our culture, our partnerships, and every interaction we have with our travelers.
Our clinician-first approach goes beyond compensation or job placement. We focus on building real, lasting relationships with our nurses and allied professionals by taking the time to understand their goals, preferences, and challenges. Our recruiters are not transactional; they are long-term advocates who prioritize trust, transparency, and consistency. Many of our clinicians return to PRN Healthcare for multiple assignments because they feel heard, respected, and supported throughout their journey.
Education and empowerment are also central to who we are. Through our social media platforms and ongoing outreach, we provide meaningful education on travel healthcare, career growth, industry trends, and clinician well-being. We strive to promote informed decision-making and elevate the voices of healthcare professionals—helping them feel confident and prepared both on and off assignment.
Most importantly, we genuinely want what’s best for our travelers. Whether that means guiding them toward the right opportunity, advocating for fair treatment at a facility, or offering honest advice even when it doesn’t immediately benefit us, we choose integrity every time. Our success is measured not just by placements, but by the satisfaction, growth, and loyalty of the clinicians who trust us with their careers.

Her business decisions are values-driven, community-centered, and grounded in service — the very foundation of nursing.
