Ardent Expands AI Virtual Nursing in 2,000 Hospital Rooms to Aid Nurses and Prevent Falls
- Ardent Health is deploying AI-assisted virtual nursing and patient monitoring technology in more than 2,000 hospital rooms across its health system.
- The hellocare.ai platform will support virtual nursing, telehealth communication, and AI-driven patient safety monitoring such as fall detection and pressure injury prevention.
- Healthcare systems are increasingly adopting AI-powered virtual care tools to expand clinical support and improve patient observation.
Artificial intelligence is entering patient rooms in a new way. Ardent Health announced it will deploy AI-assisted virtual nursing and patient monitoring technology in more than 2,000 hospital rooms across its health system.
The rollout will introduce AI-supported virtual nursing, telehealth, and patient safety monitoring designed to support nurses, physicians, and care teams while improving patient observation in inpatient settings.
AI Technology Will Support Virtual Nursing and Patient Safety
The platform from hellocare.ai includes several tools that combine virtual care with artificial intelligence. These tools support:
- Virtual nursing support
- Virtual physician care
- Remote patient observation
- Fall prevention and detection
- Pressure injury prevention
- Telehealth communication
The system uses AI-powered monitoring technology and integrated hardware installed in patient rooms. According to the organizations, the goal is to help care teams monitor patients more efficiently and identify safety risks earlier.
Ardent Health leaders say the technology will help extend clinical support while allowing nurses and physicians to focus on direct patient care.
“Our priority is to deliver safe, high-quality care while supporting providers, nurses and care teams with the right technology to enable them to perform at the top of their license and do what they do best – care for people,” said Lisa Dolan, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, chief nursing officer at Ardent Health.
Dolan added that the system will help expand the health system’s current virtual nursing programs and improve patient observation and risk prevention.
A Systemwide Virtual Care Infrastructure
By adopting a single enterprise platform, Ardent Health plans to standardize its virtual care programs across its hospitals and sites of care.
The system will combine AI monitoring tools with virtual nursing and telehealth capabilities to support:
- Real-time communication between care teams
- Standardized workflows across facilities
- Data insights at the point of care
- Scalable technology deployment
According to FJ Campbell, MD, chief medical officer at Ardent Health, virtual care is becoming a central component of modern healthcare delivery.
“Virtual care is a critical component of modern care delivery and one that will enhance the clinician and patient experience across the communities we serve,” Campbell said.
Growing Use of AI in Hospital Care
Healthcare organizations across the country are increasingly exploring artificial intelligence tools to support staffing challenges, patient safety monitoring, and documentation workflows.
hellocare.ai reports that its technology currently supports more than 100 health systems nationwide, providing AI-assisted virtual nursing, patient observation, and digital patient room tools.
Company founder and CEO Labinot Bytyqi said the partnership with Ardent Health focuses on embedding AI into everyday clinical workflows rather than testing limited pilot programs.
According to Bytyqi, the system aims to strengthen safety monitoring while supporting frontline clinicians.

What This Means for Nurses
Artificial intelligence and virtual nursing programs are becoming more common across healthcare systems nationwide. For nurses, these technologies could reshape how care teams collaborate, monitor patients, and manage workloads. As hospitals continue adopting AI-assisted tools, the nursing profession will likely play a key role in shaping how these technologies are integrated into daily patient care.
However, early research suggests that virtual nursing and AI tools have shown mixed results in actually reducing bedside nurses’ workloads, so ongoing evaluation and nurse feedback will be essential as these programs expand.
