Nursing Assistant - On Call Stafford Creek Corrections Center (SCCC) - Health Services

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Nursing Assistant - On Call at Stafford Creek Corrections Center (SCCC) in Health Services.

SCCC is a 1,936-bed multi-custody facility located five miles west of Aberdeen, on the southern Washington Coast. There are seven living units for medium and minimum long-term custody offenders and an intensive management unit for maximum-custody offenders. SCCC was Washington State's first tobacco-free facility for both staff and offenders.

Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, assists in the delivery of nursing and nursing related care. Provides assistance to medical and nursing staff by performing routine tasks involving direct and indirect patient care, treatment, transportation and clerical tasks.

The Nursing Assistant: -Collects subjective and objective data about the physical and emotional conditions of offender patients during nursing triage, ambulatory care clinics, and patient rounds; -Reports data collected to the licensed nurse, and as directed, initiates appropriate intervention according to the Health Services policies and procedures, treatment plans and protocols; -Participates in interdisciplinary meetings to develop a comprehensive plan to provide continuity of care; -Contributes to the development of patient care plans using standard nursing care plans for chronic and stable disease processes; -Assists the licensed nurse in responding to emergencies throughout the facility; -Provides emergency medical care including CPR, using triage format to offenders and staff; -Assists patients to improve their skills and ability to provide care for themselves and their family; -Responds to all requests for health care attention in a complete, timely, clinically appropriate and therapeutic manner.

-Graduation from an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant Program. -Initial and unblemished/unrestricted certification in Washington State as a Certified Nursing Assistant. -Certified by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. -One year experience working in a health care setting, Psychiatric experience preferred.

-Must exhibit knowledge, skills and ability to perform nursing assistant activities. -Participates in the evaluation of competency in nursing assistant practices as requested by the employer. -Able to use the computer to enter, schedule, monitor and track patient information, word process and communicate via email.
