Host, Love n' Leary Nursing Podcast
Marion Leary, PhD, MPH, RN, is an innovation methodologist. She basically spends her days proving that nurses are the secret sauce of healthcare innovation. She leads the national Johnson & Johnson Nurse Innovation Fellowship (powered by Penn Nursing, and the Wharton School) and hosts not one but two podcasts (Amplify Nursing and Love n' Leary),
Her leadership spans an impressive range of organizations and initiatives:
- She's a founding member of SONSIEL (Society of Nurse Scientists, Innovators, Entrepreneurs and Leaders)
- Serves on multiple advisory boards including the American Nurse Enterprise's Nurse Educator Innovator Leadership Forum, the Nurse Hack 4 Health, and Philadelphia Science Action
- She is the co-chair of the Nursing is STEM board—leading the charge to get nursing officially recognized as a STEM field.
- She's also a contributor to the Philadelphia Inquirer's OpEd section, the American Nurses Association's official journal and many other journals and blogs. Dr. Leary brings her expertise to councils ranging from the Natural Lands NextGen Council and the Philadelphia's Convention and Visitors Bureau's Nursing Leadership Council.
Her trophy case includes:
- The 2025 SONSIEL Founders Award
- Multiple Philadelphia Power List appearances
- Recognition as one of Pennsylvania's most powerful LGBTQIA+ leaders
- The absolutely legendary title of 2017 Geek of the Year.
- She's been called one of five female nurses who will "go down in herstory" by The Nursing Beat, which feels both accurate and insufficient.
Dr. Leary writes, speaks, advocates, and generally causes the kind of good trouble that makes healthcare better for everyone.
