Sermo: A Social Network Made Just For NPs and PAs
Written By: Joleen Sams, NP. Originally published on The Nursing Beat, Dember 4, 2024.
Are you a healthcare professional looking to make extra income while connecting with peers? Meet Sermo, a trusted community where healthcare professionals like you can share insights, learn from others, and get paid for participating in valuable medical research. Whether you’re a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA), Sermo provides a space tailored to your professional needs and goals.
Who is Sermo?
Sermo began over 20 years ago as a physician survey company, and today, it’s a free global community of over 1.5 million healthcare professionals dedicated to advancing medical knowledge and collaboration. Sermo serves healthcare professionals across the world, including over 400,000 members in the U.S. alone.
Why Should I Join?
You get to contribute to global medical research and connect with peers around the world. All healthcare professionals, including nurses, can participate in these research surveys and provide their valuable insights. NPs and PAs can also join Sermo’s new APP community for even more collaboration and education opportunities.
"This community is invaluable for advanced practice providers, no matter what your specialty is or how long you have been in practice. There is an opportunity to network with providers of all experience levels and all specialties, whether it be for the burning question you have been dying to ask or to consult on a difficult case. It is so nice to finally have a community to call our own."
- Sara, Sermo Member and NP in the US
How Do the Surveys Work?
New survey opportunities are posted frequently. You’ll find them in the Surveys tab after signing up, or via email and SMS alerts (if you choose). Each survey listing gives you a time estimate for how long it will take to complete and the compensation available. After completion, you can choose your payout method, with options including direct deposit, PayPal, Amazon gift card, or donate to Doctors Without Borders.
