Who is Dr. Travis Moore?
Dr. Moore started off as an EMT and paramedic before becoming a registered nurse. He has worked in many different specialties during his nursing career, including emergency medicine, pediatrics, ambulatory care, and home care.
His passion for helping others evolved into a passion for helping other nurses and healthcare professionals specifically. This inspired him to “challenge the way that healthcare does business” and to pursue his Doctorate in Nursing Practice with a concentration in Healthcare Innovation and Leadership.
Dr. Moore’s nursing background greatly influences his approach to his work as he endeavors to push boundaries and challenge the status quo. Dr. Moore has traveled to many countries, gaining a global perspective on the impact of nurses in healthcare along the way.

As the first nurse hired by Indeed.com, Dr. Moore is setting a precedent for nurses who are curious about pursuing a non-traditional nursing role. His overarching focus is to support the research and development necessary to make Indeed better for both job seekers and employers.
“While I’ve always had this passion for helping people, now that I’m at Indeed, I get to help people in a different way,” Dr. Moore says in the episode.
His role at Indeed involves helping people find healthcare jobs through innovation and market analysis. His Doctoral degree in nursing and health innovation means he brings expertise to many aspects of his partnership with Indeed, including nursing administration, product development, marketing, quality management, and process improvement.
“My job is to bring that external experience that I have as a nurse, as a job seeker, and as a hiring manager into the organization and help inform some of the decisions that we make inside the organization,” Dr. Moore explains to Nurse Alice.

“Nurses are expert problem-solvers,” Dr. Moore says in the episode.

“Nurses are the fabric of healthcare,” he tells Nurse Alice. “And we need nurses to think innovatively and start getting into some of these new and innovative positions and help lead the conversation on what the new healthcare system is going to look like.”

Dr. Moore recommends filling out your Indeed profile as completely as possible in order for the website to find the jobs that are most relevant to you and your interests. This can help save time during your job search by filtering out jobs that you are not interested in or may not be qualified for.
Dr. Moore also advises applicants to be aware of scammers who will sometimes use job sites like Indeed to steal your sensitive information, such as bank information or social security number.
“Never send money over Indeed,” he tells Nurse Alice. “Look for verifiable company email addresses…be cautious when pursuing positions that have really crazy looking salaries, perks, or flexibility that really seem to be too good to be true.”
While some job postings may list preferred qualifications, job seekers must ensure they meet the minimum required qualifications before submitting their application. However, even if you do not meet all of the preferred criteria, Dr. Moore recommends submitting your application if you believe you possess the necessary skills and experience to perform the job well.
Finally, Dr. Moore advises job seekers to carefully review job offers and terms before accepting a position. Factors such as salary, PTO, and flexible hybrid hours are often negotiable, so applicants should not be afraid to ask for a more favorable offer.
“At the end of the day, what does it hurt to ask?” Dr. Moore says in the episode.
