This Free Virtual Nurse Well-Being Conference Puts Nurses First

The well-being of our nation’s nurses balances on a teeter-totter, fluctuating up and down as the healthcare system incurs more stress. When hospitals see a sustained influx of sick patients, the burden disproportionately falls on the shoulders of nurses. Nurses are left with more work, increased stress, and less time to keep their own well-being in check. And as a nurse’s own mental health falls further down the priority list, so does their career longevity.
At Keener and NurseGrid, we believe that a nurse’s well-being is key to a healthy healthcare system. Happier, more balanced nurses will be in a better mindset to take care of us when we’re sick and will last longer in the workforce. This cumulative effect helps alleviate the staffing shortage and leads to better overall care.
A survey conducted in January 2021 by NurseGrid showed that more than 60% of nurses were concerned about burnout and more than 20% said that they planned to leave bedside care. Numbers like these highlight the urgency of this issue. We can no longer afford to put nurse well-being on the back burner.
That is why we are eager to host the second annual Nurse Well-being Week from Sept. 27 - Oct. 1. We’ll be putting the well-being of nurses front and center, helping them and their employers discover strategies to re-prioritize well-being. This year’s conference will bring together a broad range of experts, thought leaders, and nursing professionals to address the mental and physical health of our nurses.
Conference sessions will address topics such as:
- How to cope with grief and anger,
- Looking beyond sleep for restoration,
- Using mindfulness to prevent burnout,
- How to use your voice to advocate for yourself and other nurses,
- Realistic career changes to help your well-being, and more.
Nurse Well-being Week will close with an impassioned keynote address on post-traumatic growth by Tim Cunningham, DrPH, MSN.

Additionally, as a follow up to the NurseGrid surveys conducted in September, 2020 and January, 2021, we again surveyed users on their well-being in the face of a pandemic. We will release the new report on September 27th to kick-off Nurse Well-being Week.
As our system wavers back and forth in the midst of this pandemic, we must find a way to restore equilibrium between work and health. That only happens if we can successfully make the well-being of the nurse a priority. Join us this fall for Nurse Well-Being Week as we seek to do just that.
