Nurse Stopped To Perform CPR While Fleeing Dayton Shooter
Nurse Kayla Miller bravely risked her own life to perform CPR on wounded victims while fleeing from a gunman in Dayton, Ohio. Kayla was at a bar with friends in the Oregon District of Ohio when a gunman, Connor Betts, 24, opened fire on the crowd shortly after 1 am on August 4, 2019.
Kayla spoke to Gabe Gutierrez with TODAY where she tearfully stated, “I look down the sidewalk and see just a row of bodies...people shot, some alive, some not.” She was in the middle of imminent danger but continued risking her life to save others.
"My heart breaks for these families," said Kayla.

The city of Dayton has released the names of the 9 victims of the Dayton massacre, including the gunman’s own sister-

- Logan M. Turner, 30
- Nicholas P. Cumer, 25
- Thomas J. McNichols, 25
- Beatrice N. Warren-Curtis, 36
- Monica E. Brickhouse, 39
It has been reported that 27 other people were injured during the shooting. The gunman’s motive has not yet been determined.
Authorities state that the gunman wore protective gear, including a bulletproof vest, mask, and earplugs. Dayton Police Chief, Richard Biehl, told CNN that "the officers immediately advanced toward the gunfire and within approximately 20 seconds, they engaged the suspect, who was actively firing and attempting to enter a crowded liquor establishment.”
