This 2-day interactive summer camp is for high school students who are considering a career in nursing.  The camp will include fun, hands-on experiences to introduce campers to all that nursing has to offer.  Campers will have the opportunity to participate in activities with the goal of developing a passion for nursing. Faculty, staff, and current students in the School of Nursing will be present to work with campers and answer any questions that they may have related to the nursing program as well as the nursing profession.

Nursing Hot Topics – A Deep Dive into Implicit Bias

Join ANA-Illinois for July Nursing Hot Topics with speaker Ashley Whitlatch DNP, MBA, APRN, FNP-C. The July webinar will be a deep dive into Implicit Bias. Implicit bias is defined by the dictionary as "unconscious favoritism toward or prejudice against people of a particular ethnicity, gender, or social group that influences one's actions or perception." This program will discuss the definition and recognition of Implicit Bias, the causes and effects of Implicit Bias, and ways to reduce the impact of Implicit Biases. Participants are encouraged to prepare questions for the expert speakers. This event offers a 1.0 contact hour to attendees.

2023 National Nurse Practitioner Symposium

A comedy show from and for medical professionals. Greg “G” Williams is working diligently to be a breath of fresh air by taking a different path into the world of comedy. His comedic style arises from his day-to-day life as a male nurse. After discovering life in a hospital can be hilariously entertaining, “G” developed his act in the comedy clubs of Atlanta. An impressive article was written on “G” in The Atlanta Journal Constitution about his transition from nursing to comedy. The article caught the eye of several nursing organizations which contracted “G” as icebreaker comic to relieve stress and add an element of humor to nursing conferences. Greg started “Nurse’s Night Out” in 2013 at The San Jose Improv as a show dedicated to our hero's working in the medical field.

An impressive article was written on “G” in The Atlanta Journal Constitution about his transition from nursing to comedy. The article caught the eye of several nursing organizations which contracted “G” as an icebreaker comic to relieve stress and add an element of humor to nursing conferences. After four years of successful exciting comedy ventures in Atlanta “G” sought new adventures and relocated to Northern California’s San Francisco Bay Area where he has hit the ground running in the comedy arena.
