Why This Matters for Nursing: Nursing runs on procedures — sterile field setup, medication administration, CPR, wound care, emergency protocols. Every one is a sequence where order matters and a skipped or reversed step can harm a patient. The TEAS tests whether you can read a set of instructions and know exactly what to do, and in what order.
Following-directions questions give you a passage that is a set of instructions, steps, a procedure, or a recipe, and ask you to track the sequence or identify the correct action. The answer depends on order and process, not just a stated fact.
These questions ask things like: - What is the first step? - What should you do immediately after X? - What must be done before Y? - When should you do Z? - What action is warned against / prohibited?
Directions are about ORDER and ACTION. A locating-detail question asks "what does the text say?" A following-directions question asks "what do you DO, and when?"
