Run Away

PROS:

I have nothing nice to say other than the cafeteria food is great and small scrub sales every now again.

CONS:

Scheduling issues, crappy insurance options, staffing issues, pay, promote smoking, no employee appreciation shown, no bonuses, only care about certain people and certain jobs. Good boy chain program

Obstetrics

PROS:

Pay, facility, coworkers the doctors are amazing and the team work is awesome. The facility is beautiful and has state of art equipment

CONS:

Scheduling

Labor & Delivery (L&D)

Worked in L & D for 15 years

PROS:

Great working environment. Team work was wonderful. Nurses was well trained on all new technology. Ratio 1 : 2 The unit had four different areas that you could be assigned. L/D, triage, pacu and or. It was nice to move around within the unit.

CONS:

Pay on lower scale. Fixed block schedule. Hard to advance within the department.

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

RN Med/surg

PROS:

Coworkers are always willing to work as a team and pay is excellent and competitive. I really enjoy being an employee at the hospital.

CONS:

Ratio of nurse to patient can be overwhelming at times. They seem to be short staffed often which results in more work for nurses that work there.

Oncology

Train wreck

PROS:

Good orientation very thorough, 1 hour lunch was nice.

CONS:

Not all staff members were friendly to travelers, staff turned over during 13 weeks at facility, blocked assignments and getting slammed with several admissions at one time.

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

I worked briefly on a med surg/gyn urology floor.

PROS:

Pros- the hospital has a great retirement plan and benefit package. The staff worked well together especially the nurses on my floor.

CONS:

Cons- very political environment with regards to management and the hospital was more concerned about money than patient care

Emergency Room (ER)

RN 2 in the level one trauma center

PROS:

coworkers excellent, pay fair, staffing ratios generally good, flexible scheduling, nice facility, supportive administration, physicians approachable and knowledgeable, strong teamwork

CONS:

pay could be better

Ostomy Care

Staff RN at a wound center

PROS:

Friendly environment great team work great education opportunity small town feeling close to downtown great work environment great pay great benefits

CONS:

Change happens quickly small town gossip push education but has poor tuition reinvestment. Hard to move up the ladder terrible food

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

PROS:

coworkers worked together on the unit I observed, helping each other when needed. Very busy medsurg floor. Patient census turnover very quick. May have 10 discharges and 10 admissions the same day.

CONS:

scheduling, call ins.

Telemetry

5 years med/surgery pulmonary step-down, telemetry

PROS:

I love my Coworkers and my boss, location to my home, EPIC charting system. EPIC has made charting and total care efficient.

CONS:

The pay is well below market comparison. On call 4 days every 6 weeks.
