Orthopedics

It's ok

PROS:

Good team work. Co workers are nice easily to get along with, good benefits... learn a lot because u see it all! Very very sick pts

CONS:

Patient ratios; high aquity patients... staffing is terrible due to "budgets" management doesn't get off their butts too often... 5-6 patient teams with 4 PCU patients... responsible for everything... make dead end promises with loop holes, pay is awful make way more at ORMC... contracts that never end especially if u decide to transfer units....

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

Had an awesome exp. everyone great to work with

PROS:

They float travelers, but every floor awesome, they always ask if you need help. Awesome attitudes on every floor

CONS:

Work with laptops, floated every nite, seldom on same floor two nites in a row, cafeteria very far away to be able to walk to it, wait for your food and be back in 30 min.

Intensive Care (Critical Care, CCU, ICU)

I suppose all hospitals are just about the same.

PROS:

Ratio 2:1 Good leaders Private rooms for patients Faith based

CONS:

-overly focused on patient experience. -low wages -no overtime permitted -mixed patient population - constantly adding more work for nurses -hard to go on break

Intensive Care (Critical Care, CCU, ICU)

Overal a good learning experience

PROS:

There was excellent teamwork, my manager was a nurse advocate, plenty of opportunities to grow, scheduling was easy and flexible

CONS:

Pay (I got a pay cut transferring to this facility)

Pediatric ICU (PICU)

CONS:

None

Progressive Care

Two Stars

PROS:

None

CONS:

Do not go to 3east

Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)

Five Stars

PROS:

That this is awesome place to work It is a very busy hospital but you have the support that you need to carry out your job

CONS:

None

Telemetry

Two Stars

PROS:

None

CONS:

The nurse is responsible for everything. Very hard to complete nursing duties because the phone we carry is is constantly ringing. The "nurse assistants" only give baths.they are not allowed to help with anything else. A typical 12 hour day ends up as 14 hours with a 10 minute lunch if we were lucky.

Progressive Care

Four Stars

PROS:

Team work is important

CONS:

None
