Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

Not what it may seem

PROS:

Some good nurses and doctors that actually care about their patients. Decent pay and nurse/pts ratios compared to other local hospitals

CONS:

At first it seemed like a great job but soon realized that nurse Bullying and discrimination is rampant

Intensive Care (Critical Care, CCU, ICU)

ICU Life

PROS:

great people, good benefits, scheduling. I have enjoyed working with this organization for 5 years. They have given me an excellent foundation for my nursing practice. I feel I had a head start on everyone in my graduating class by starting in the ICU setting.

CONS:

pay

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

Lrh

PROS:

Comaraderieis great, teamwork is great, work well together

CONS:

Pay is not competitive Rn's come for one year to get experience then move to same sized hospitals within 50 miles making a much greater base pay, therefore our attrition rate is high accompanied by a very mobile stadd.

Ambulatory Care

Great place to work

PROS:

Locations and Co-workers. Great place to work. Large facility with several areas to work in. There is not a lot of traffic either.

CONS:

None

Intensive Care (Critical Care, CCU, ICU)

Overall a great experience, 4 1/2 years.

PROS:

Hires graduate nurses, new residency program, strong IT department with electronic charting, opportunities for learning and advancement. Union. Competitive pay and benefits.

CONS:

Charge Nurses/Team Leaders in Staffing 24 hours a day visiting hours including ICUs Location is not in the best neighborhood.

Progressive Care

Tnx with pcu home health care and 15 years case management experience

PROS:

Great co workers and leadership and benefits great support from leadership and numerous opportunities for education and advancement it is a supportive work environment

CONS:

Really have nothing negative to say

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

Registered nurse

PROS:

Growing hospital, busiest ER in the nation, opening women's and children's hospital, new rehabilitation center, trauma center, large psychiatric unit for adults and adolescents.

CONS:

Low pay compared to other area hospitals, no clinical ladder, 50 cents for BSN, no real nursing leadership, not interested in protecting staff just the hospital

Ambulatory Care

registered Nurse

PROS:

Co-workers, variety in schedule, benefits are good. Growing facility, patient to nurse ratios are ok.

CONS:

Pay is lower than surrounding hospitals, no clinical ladder, difficult to move up in organization. Weak nursing leadership, Education department is seriously absent, evaluation does not impact pay, everyone gets the same low pay increase, no matter how hard you work or don't work.

Ambulatory Care

worked there over 25 years

PROS:

great nursing staff, busy facility, always work to do, great support staff, level 3 trauma center, building new women and children tower

CONS:

growing at great speed, a lot of changes

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

Performed clinicals here, as a student Nurse

PROS:

Excellent facility, leading cancer and cardiac researchers, learning hospital with Magnate status care. The staff are dedicated educators to students, patients and caregivers.

CONS:

Pay isn't the best, considering the acuity of the care, but I'm finding that this isn't uncommon in this environment.
