Not bad on 3s. 4s. 3east and 2north heavy

3
PROS:

Good coworkers, scheduling ok. Beach is close, good charge nurses. Good weather. Lots to fo outside. Good restaurants. Good quality

CONS:

Heavy traffic, no cafeteria at night.

Operating Room (OR)

Busiest trauma center in SC

3
PROS:

Coworkers are amazing! Very busy operating room that does a lot of trauma, ortho, general, laparoscopic and robotic cases. Close and free parking.

CONS:

Schedules are not very flexible, mostly 8 hour shifts available with call at least 1/week and scheduled late days of needed.

Emergency Room (ER)

Hard work good pay

4
PROS:

Lots of turnover...quick paced...if you want 12 hours to fly. Charge nurses pay attention to details...keep things flowing. Lots of staff.

CONS:

The facility is all about money...not enough about the employees who bust their fanny

Step-down

Loved the staff very traveler friendly.

4
PROS:

Scheduling was wonderful. Allowed travelers to self schedules. Every other weekend off, staff was very helpful Managment was friendly and accommodating

CONS:

Ratio was sometimes an issue but not very often. Computer charting on old Doss program

Emergency Room (ER)

ER is extremely fast-paced and busy!

3
PROS:

Coworkers, pay, hours available, charge nurses, near the beach, sunny weather, helpful ancillary staff, intelligent doctors, trauma teams, lunch breaks

CONS:

Scheduling

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

Good place to work

4
PROS:

Close to beach and summertime activities. Teaching hospital.

CONS:

Some staff appear to be getting more lackadaisical about their work ethic. For instance, Housekeeping shows up at 7:30 and several will gather on our floor and chat, and not get started working until 8:30.

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

Good experience

4
PROS:

Coworkers work as a team unit. Good location. State of the art facility with JCAHO approved stroke unit. Brand new pediatric and NICU units.

CONS:

Low pay. Poor management. Nurse to patient ratios too high to provide optimal care. Management could be more supportive of staff.

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

Busy

4
PROS:

The beach and activities are great during the summer, not so big that employees have to park miles away, a great and forgiving place to learn how to be a great nurse.

CONS:

Overcrowded ER, fast tracking of discharges, popularity contests between peers.

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

Five years, new experiences, new changes

5
PROS:

Self-scheduling, friendly, layback staff, top medical personnel, the ocean. This is a Level II Trauma Center and our credentials are high.

CONS:

Lower pay than in non sunbelt states, much more documentation appears to be required in patient care. Much turnover appears to occur in our very busy emergency room.

Emergency Room (ER)

Horrible

1
PROS:

Decent pay for South Carolina. Near the beach. Excellent night life. Nice weather almost year round.12 hr shifts allow for free time to explore a tourist area.

CONS:

Coworkers, lack of support, mass chaos, facility is much too small for volume of customers. Patients are seen in lobbys.
