Cardiovascular OR (CVOR)

CVOR staff nurse

PROS:

Good team work, great leadership, flexible call schedule, great opportunity to see complex procedures. Diverse team dynamics and range of experience.

CONS:

None

Labor & Delivery (L&D)

Quality Work Environment

PROS:

The staff were all very helpful and hardworking, and the environment was geared toward helping patients at every moment. I appreciated the opportunity to work here

CONS:

The scheduling was consistently a bother.

Cath Lab (Cardiac Catheterization)

staff rn cath lab

PROS:

The facility, pay and, coworkers are great, location very good lots to do, physicians are excellent, cutting edge technology, raleigh is a great place to travel to. Close to beach and mountains

CONS:

scheduling

Postpartum (Perinatal)

Great hospital until new CNO/CEO made drastic changes

PROS:

Pay is decent for area average, for casual or travel coworkers. Good teamwork on certain units. Clean and modern facility. Adequate support from ancillary staff, i.e. lab techs, etc.

CONS:

I have been here 10 years and was mostly content in that time. During the last 2-3 years, there has gradually become more and more interdepartmental disagreement/lack of cohesion in management's decisions, as well as communication increasingly characterized by extreme pettiness, with more and more burdensome regulations/requirements/charting, even as formerly separated departments have merged to attempt to provide greater cohesiveness and teamwork. The small-town-while-still-high-tech feeling of this hospital has been swallowed up by its university-affiiliated parent hospital, UNC, largely due to the CNO who came from UNC a couple of years ago, bringing the worst/most burdensome of that facility's policies and practices with him.

Pediatric

Great people

PROS:

nice people, great scheduling, not bad hours, lots of patients, never a dull moment, nice superiors, okay fine ill continue writin to get 20 words

CONS:

None

Postpartum (Perinatal)

High-tech/Small feel

PROS:

Perks of university affiliation, ongoing facility improvement/updates, good pay, strong teamwork, good interdisciplinary communication most of the time. Friendly and quick pharmacy staff.

CONS:

Lower pay than some area hospitals but better than others in the state, not much RN voice in unit policies even though feedback is frequently solicited at meetings and through surveys.

Long-Term Care (LTC)

Staff nurse

PROS:

Company believes in its employees called "coworkers" , promoting within and team approach, and pay is very good . Benefits are great if you are full time .

CONS:

None

Ambulatory Care

Lpn

PROS:

Good pay and. Nice and people were very friendly. Competitive pay have to negotiate salary sometimes But overall a pleasant atmosphere.

CONS:

Long hours

Telemetry

Cna

PROS:

Great place to work. Clean facility. Excellent coworkers. Always willing to help. Pay is also great. Mangers are encouraging. Shift hours and patient load is great

CONS:

Orientation to building should be longer.

Ambulatory Care

Service Excellence for staff, patients and families is their goal

PROS:

Magnet status, excellent and competitive benefits along with salaries. Friendly and safe environment. Up to date faculty with state of the art Heart and Vascular Center opening in 2017

CONS:

Can't think of any. Nothing negative to report. It is a hospital with an ambulatory eye center in cluded. Some policies such as sick , calling out sick is very stringent and it does not matter the reason. Excused absents are with MD note but only a certain number per calendar year
