Diaylsis Technician

PROS:

Pay good good staff patients very difficult and the supervisor was hard to work with. I loved the hours and the small unit.

Intensive Care (Critical Care, CCU, ICU)

Relatively Good

PROS:

good co-workers, all single rooms, teaching hospital, well trained staff, a decent amount of food options with in the hospital

CONS:

Emergency Room (ER)

Easy

PROS:

Several resources, extra nurses to help, friendly staff, easy ratio 4-5 patients per nurse , lots of equipment, location finder, epic, 1 hour lunch break

Restricted capabilities

Intensive Care (Critical Care, CCU, ICU)

ICU Nurse

PROS:

Hopkins is a great teaching hospital, I'm glad I began my career there. ICUs have very high acuity patients, and see interesting cases.

CONS:

Pay, scheduling, weekend hours

Orthopedics

its a good place

PROS:

Good facilities and Can gain knowledge in many vast areas.

CONS:

I've heard about it as a very good place from few of my friends. i'd like to work if given a chance.

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

Scheduling could be better

PROS:

I enjoyed working with the Coworkers there, facility is world class, I learnt a lot from my experience from the variety of acuity of diverse patient population.

CONS:

Scheduling, ratio, pay

Cardiovascular OR (CVOR)

Work a lot, learn a lot

PROS:

Coworker solidarity, nice coworkers, interesting cases, good surgeons, nice facility. It's nice to be able to say that you worked at Johns Hopkins.

CONS:

Long hours, lots of time on call, a high staff turnover rate. It was difficult sometimes when you felt like you weren't sure when you'd be going home on days that you had to work.

Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)

RN CVICU

PROS:

The city is riddled with crime and living is very expensive nearby. I met some awesome nurses but wouldn't want to do this in this area too long. Being said, the history of the hospital is amazing

Mother/Baby RN

PROS:

Staffing was always up to par, teamwork on every shift was outstanding , leadership was always available and very hands on

CONS:

Scheduling every other weekend; sometimes heavy assignments
