Emergency Room (ER)

Busiest trauma center in 200 miles

5
PROS:

(ER)Acute 2:1, gen med 3:1 MedSurg 4-5:1, ICU 2:1. Get to see lots of level 1&2 traumas. Not a whole lot of homeless.

CONS:

Not many

Step-down

RN float in heart hospital at Saint Francis

PROS:

Coworkers there are like family. Admin upper levels are out of touch with bedside nursing and don't show positive incentive for work hard. Everything is from a punitive status. Work harder and do it with less. Floor managers aren't like this for the most part. I would take an assignment here however if the pay is good! It is far from bad working environment. Just not as good as it should and could be.

CONS:

Ratios aren't the best here but not the worst. Depends on what unit you are on of course but some floors need to have ratios adjusted to improve patient care.

3
PROS:

Coworkers are definitely one of the reasons I have stayed at this hospital so long. The flexibility I have with my job now has made things a lot easier on me

CONS:

The pay rate is one of the worse for nurses in the country I think. The ratio is very unsafe at times as well

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

Awesome

5
PROS:

Great pay, people and facility. They do take care of their employees. Most patients prefer to come here for their care. Many people drive an hour or more to come to this hospital.

CONS:

Cafeteria food could be better and cheaper for employees.

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)
