Intensive Care (Critical Care, CCU, ICU)Zero accountability
PROS:
If you're a decent nurse that cares, you will go home feeling like you've made a difference. Only reason I said I would recommend this to a friend is because that's the only way this place is going to change-- need more employees motivated to make a difference. Need newer, younger, less burned out nurses to do what it takes to serve our Veterans.
CONS:
Many of the people you work with do not care. In fact, many are unprofessional and toxic to the VA as a whole. Unfortunately, incompetent, lazy, and negligent employees do not get fired and so the destructive cycle continues.

Ambulatory CareNurse Manager
PROS:
I would rate pay is average. As a federal agency the pay can not be the highest or lowest in the area.
CONS:
RN / Veterans is often low in LTC area. The staffing mix has more nursing assistants than RN.

Long-Term Care (LTC)Nurse Manager
PROS:
This being a federal agency the Pay is average. Federal law prevents them from being highest paid in any area.
CONS:
The Patient Ratio was sometimes high for RN. Staff mix with high number of Nursing assistants vs RN.
