Urology

My cancer was hidden from me by VCMC

PROS:

None

CONS:

Apparently, Ventura County Medical Center "urologist" Ryan J. Bowman #101433 thought that by repeatedly falsifying/altering and repeatedly suppressing my medical VCMC medical records he could hide his and Paul D. Silverman's crime, its had the opposite impact. For example, Bowman never discussed with me Dr. Carr's radiology findings. His radiology findings found that there was nothing wrong with my bladder "unremarkable" and inexplicably "no evidence of obstructive uropathy" --stated twice. Obviously, Bowman and Silverman felt they could maliciously and sadistically ignore Carr's expertise. Bowman and Silverman's stupidity includes their "Discharge Diagnosis" which states just two issues: "Elevated PSA, Hematuria" --both potential signs of cancer and thus "TURP" was most, including but not limited to, contraindicated but their only concern was to butcher my urethra solely for monetary gain. Specifically, Bowman suppressed numerous signs of cancer as well as his falsely planted related statement that he informed me I had "...a risk of cancer...." as if someone in their right mind would opt for "TURP" (which can spread cancer) surgery instead of full cancer diagnosis and immediate treatment. Or, that someone would opt for "TURP" surgery when the patient did NOT have an urination problem which Bowman admits, “He has some hesitancy but no urgency. He feels he voids with a fairly good stream." ( Bowman, also falsely planted post-"TURP" in my medical records that we discussed numerous consequences of "TURP" surgery including "urinary incontinence" --additionally, who in their right mind would opt for an urination surgery when there was NONE and beyond irony I now have a permanent urination problem (including constant pain, sexual dysfunctional and sterility, etc) and almost died from cancer last Fall and still might.

Intensive Care (Critical Care, CCU, ICU)

Poor administration and floor managers

PROS:

Pay is okay, in process of new construction, ER, xrays, cat scan, DOU & ICU will be all together on main floor, makes sense for Flow and care. Trauma center, great doctors, residency program

CONS:

Somr Lazy staff, older facility

Emergency Room (ER)

Felt like family

PROS:

Enjoyed working with staff and doctors. The hospital has a family feeling. Staff is friendly, opportunities to work with traumas

CONS:

Pay

Intensive Care (Critical Care, CCU, ICU)

education

PROS:

good educational opportunities great coworkers and all around staff great weather with surfing potential physicians are great to work with,

CONS:

Staffing can be a little difficult as job listings have to go through the county government system who don't specifically have nursing experience. board of supervisors have power over salary and although they might appreciate the nurses here, their bottom line is pleasing the voters who are going to vote them back into power.

Psychiatric (Mental Health)

Four Stars

PROS:

It can be dangerous at times. Staffing is usually good I retired recently

CONS:

None

Psychiatric (Mental Health)

Five Stars

PROS:

Fast paced and fun. Psych ER or assessment and referral is great and the inpatient unit you are at a 5-1 ratio, not bad at all. Fast paced, fun environment, team nursing.

CONS:

None

Emergency Room (ER)

Three Stars

PROS:

We did not use travellers for years, but we got a new CEO who is now using them. Most of our travellers have been great as they like the Ventura area. Sand, surf, year round nice weather, 32 bed ER. Cost of housing is high in Ventura at $1550 for a one bedroom apartment. Days and night shift twelve hour shifts available as many nurses with experience have left to find higher wages the county hospital can't pay.

CONS:

None

Emergency Room (ER)

Three Stars

PROS:

Not enough support, pay is not competitive, staff retention is very poor

CONS:

None

Case Management (CM)

Three Stars

PROS:

Try it

CONS:

None

Intensive Care (Critical Care, CCU, ICU)

Four Stars

PROS:

Good facility and doctors, However, Pay is too low and there is a need for CNA and LVN support help.

CONS:

None
