Cath Lab (Cardiac Catheterization)
Excellent experience with staff and organization of department
Ton of work, Ton of call, appreciate staff, flexible, call schedule is usually fair to all employees, inclusion of all activities.
A Ton of work and A ton of call - could be seen as a good thing.
The people I work with. Mangers have a open door policy and are very easy to talk to. The pay is pretty good.
Intensive Care (Critical Care, CCU, ICU)
Memorial hermann southwest has intensive care unit has awesome coworkers, great teamwork and a sense of great comraderie. I loved working here and would definitely recommend it.
Operating Room (OR)
Awesome Hospital but...
Have great staff, diversified culture, competitive salary. Management very supportive and encourages professional growth. My manager was great. Enjoyed working with a great group of people.
Too much call and hard for nurses with younger children. Crappy Insurance. Scheduling is hard at times.
Director more concerned pts' family waiting room satisfaction than pt safety
Parking. Due to new expansion and construction, parking for employees is scarce. Choice of parking free several blocks away and relying on shuttle service that can be delayed by weather, traffic, and events at nearby stadium and convention center, or parking using monthly contract at garage 2-3 blocks away (long wait list at hospital garage). Be prepared to double your patient load during holidays do to vacation and call-ins, especially in ICUs.
PACU (Post-Anasthesia, Recovery Room, PAR)
It is a great place to work. As a nurse you always have management support behind you.
Emergency Room (ER)
Be ready to work hard and have fun in the ED
Take advantage of all the learning opportunities
