Rooted in the loving ministry of Jesus as healer, we here at Saint John’s Medical commit ourselves to serving all people with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable. Our Catholic health ministry is dedicated to spiritually centeredness, holistic care which sustains and improves the health of individuals and communities. We are advocates for a compassionate and just society through our actions and our words. We envision a strong, vibrant Catholic health ministry in the USA which will undoubtedly lead to the transformation of healthcare all over our country. We ensure service that is committed to health and well-being for our communities and that acts to the needs of people throughout the cycle of life. RN staff nurse
Excellent pay. Great staff. Plenty of overtime pay if wanted and willing to float to other areas of hospital. Magnet status hospital. You can learn a lot and advance your career.
Short staffed at times. Very fast paced. 6:1 sometimes 7:1 ratio. Very busy but charge nurses are good to help when needed. Floor managers are very involved.
The work environment is great. St Johns is actively pursuing to educate so nurses can further there careers. I have an excellent management team that is very supportive and they are always pushing you outside of your comfort zone when they think that you are ready for that next step.
One major con that we have right now is blocking. Blocking does not take into consideration acuity. The pay scale as well as the nurse to patient ratios.
Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)
2 years general surgical with medical over flow experience
Magnet hospital. Involved managers, good staffing ratios, frequent opportunities for staff to make suggestions. Orientation period for all staff including travelers.
Some semi-private rooms, call light system needs updated
Intensive Care (Critical Care, CCU, ICU)
I've always enjoyed learning/working/growing at St.Johns.
Neurology ICU (Neuro ICU)
I actually love working at St John. The environment and teamwork are exceptional.
Benefits and salary wonderful. Culture needs lots of work. Lots of good people, they give good patient care. Need better staffing.
