Intensive Care (Critical Care, CCU, ICU)

ICU Life

PROS:

great people, good benefits, scheduling. I have enjoyed working with this organization for 5 years. They have given me an excellent foundation for my nursing practice. I feel I had a head start on everyone in my graduating class by starting in the ICU setting.

CONS:

pay

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

Lrh

PROS:

Comaraderieis great, teamwork is great, work well together

CONS:

Pay is not competitive Rn's come for one year to get experience then move to same sized hospitals within 50 miles making a much greater base pay, therefore our attrition rate is high accompanied by a very mobile stadd.

Ambulatory Care

Great place to work

PROS:

Locations and Co-workers. Great place to work. Large facility with several areas to work in. There is not a lot of traffic either.

CONS:

None

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

Registered nurse

PROS:

Growing hospital, busiest ER in the nation, opening women's and children's hospital, new rehabilitation center, trauma center, large psychiatric unit for adults and adolescents.

CONS:

Low pay compared to other area hospitals, no clinical ladder, 50 cents for BSN, no real nursing leadership, not interested in protecting staff just the hospital

Ambulatory Care

registered Nurse

PROS:

Co-workers, variety in schedule, benefits are good. Growing facility, patient to nurse ratios are ok.

CONS:

Pay is lower than surrounding hospitals, no clinical ladder, difficult to move up in organization. Weak nursing leadership, Education department is seriously absent, evaluation does not impact pay, everyone gets the same low pay increase, no matter how hard you work or don't work.
