Labor & Delivery (L&D)

unsafe practice

PROS:

They hired me to work my preferred shift, night shift, that was the only pro I can provide for this facility I

CONS:

unsafe staffing & do not adhere to AWHONN standards, I left on my recogness after having the charge RN giving me a second pt 'who will deliver quickly' when I already had a pt that due to complexity was a 1:1, handed off pt to sed charge nurse. 3h later the docs were upset with me bcz nothing had been done on my 1:1 pt. I explained I had handed off pt to charge nurse, who denied she was responsible for the 1:1 pt's care. What saved me was we gave bedside report & the patient verified report was given & sed charge assumed care of her. I left the position bcz I regularly worked with this charge RN & retaliation had ensued. Fast forward, someone called the facility for verification of employment, & instead manager told verification personnel my contract had been terminated due to MY unsafe practice! WOW...all the verification personnel wanted was simply an employment verification & nothing more but received this information instead
