Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

I have enjoyed working at Baptist Memorial for 2 years.

PROS:

Great teamwork and good benefits. Co-workers are willing to teach newly graduate nurses. They have an excellent cardiac unit which provides amazing assistance not only to their patients but families as well.

CONS:

Very high nurse to patient ratio; low pay rate

Emergency Room (ER)

Interesting that

PROS:

Coworkers make the environment pleasant and the teamwork is awesome along with the MD. The charting system is user friendly

CONS:

Pay

Progressive Care

great hospital cleanliness

PROS:

for the most part they are friendly co workers. of course you will always find the ones who think highly of themselves or who just don't care

CONS:

The worst part is the nurse/patient ratio. Despite the hospital knowing this it does not seem to change the end result. the nurse can not possibly give great care if they are overworked with an almost impossible workload

Rehabilitation

Some great nurses work here!

PROS:

The coworkers and scheduling are great in the rehab department. Everyone works as a team and pulls together for great care of our patients.

CONS:

Pay, ratio, acuity levels are cons lately. This is a hospital wide problem, not just in the rehab department. The least attractive department is icu step down. Well known for their rapid nurse turn over rates.

Emergency Room (ER)

ER

PROS:

Pay and scheduling were ok, not great. Staff wasn't helpful or friendly. Assigned rooms and work were not explained well. No help or "way they do things" were given.

CONS:

Understaffed and unsafe working conditions. No assistance was offered or given. Too many chiefs and not even Indians. Would not return there again.

Medical-Surgical (MS, Med-Surg)

RN. Head Nurse.

PROS:

Close to home, coworkers like family, pay good, teamwork, great doctors and communication between MDs and nurses, great Heart specialists and heart center. Rated #1 in state.

CONS:
