Float

Two Stars

PROS:

None

CONS:

Charge nurse also assigned a full load of patients. No one available to help if you get tied up with a patient. Lack of teamwork on units. No one to cover for breaks so your called back if one of your patients needs/wants anything. Nurse to patient ratios as high as 7:1. Assignments not based on acuity so one nurse may have all high acuity pts while another has low.
